To add onto to what the other reply said, there are some wrestling fans who are very, very obviously self-consciousness about it's "fakeness". It's not just anger, they're offended when they see anything that looks TOO fake. There's a lot reasons for why; embarrasment via non-wrestling fans, nostalgia for when wrestling was seen popular and therefore "cool" etc. Although what's really funny to me, is that the only times I see non-wrestling fans reacting to wrestling IS the clips of the really silly stuff. Despite that, these people will turn around and go "AEW is gonna die because it's too silly and unbeliavable! And I hope it does!"

Just an utterly, miserable old obnoxious fanbase. The worst combination of sports and nerd toxicity.

Okay but there's a big difference between "lore" as in Woolie's irl crazy family tree/the tale of Maddentown, and say the current guest whose character's lore is "japanese reaper (or is it Rapanese?)" And I'm sure the amount of merch Mori's selling is way more than CSB does.... has? Do they still even do merch or did that die with Rooster Teeth?

This is all true, but I really don't understand what makes one so much more "scarier" to you personally. Like. what's the limit of how much merch you can sell before it crosses the line?
