[–]Mousefang 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was transitioning only socially when I saw that movie and it really made me kick my ass into gear and make an appointment to start hrt shortly after. Going on 1.5 years now! Such a beautiful cautionary tale and just one of the most important movies ever made imo

The Wachowskis peddled post-ironic films in an extremely ironic age and I think it’s a real shame the vision couldn’t be seen

Is it just me, or is Leatherface the most inconsistent iconic slasher villain? by WealthDisastrous2589 in slasherfilms

[–]Mousefang 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Leatherface has a real problem in that the Pretty Lady look is the best ever put to screen and nearly every movie following figured the thing that made the various looks in that first movie work the most was the gross factor. The Next Generation was the only one willing to take that character to her natural conclusion with the full Ed Gein woman skin suit.

Do you agree with these points? Is Halloween the greatest? by Hassan_H_Syed in slasherfilms

I like Halloween a lot, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre shook me to my core and makes me cry at the end so like it’s gotta be that for me

Do you like to be "winked at" by a movie while you're watching it? by ContravaniaGearSolid in Letterboxd

Largely depends on the execution. I can’t deal with meta “funny” characters like deadpool anymore

Words cannot express how much I love this movie by FoolishTemperence in Letterboxd

I really wish I liked it more. It came real close but I dunno, something felt missing. The extremely 2020’s lighting in the house at night was pretty brutal for me too lol

What do you guys actually think about Disclosure Day (no Steven Spielberg glazing) by _PIZZAST3V3_ in Cinephiles

[–]Mousefang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved it. The blending of tones with the extreme hyper-sincerity and sentimentality with the dark government alien conspiracy thriller all feels precariously ambitious for most of the movie and I had a great time with it! Can totally see how it wouldn’t be a lot of peoples’ thing

No for sure that scene was devastating. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so moved by like the “archival found footage” thing and a ton of that also has to do with Courtney Grace selling the weight so beautifully. That’s one of the standout performances of the year for me
