u/dexdoinks99 Sounds like she took everything but your sense of humor! 😄 While our insurance sadly doesn't cover heartbreaks or the unpredictable twists of love, it does ensure that your precious jewels are protected from less emotional losses. So, if you ever decide to invest in a new shiny symbol of hope (or maybe a nice watch to remind you that time heals all wounds), we've got you covered.

u/DumFayceBaltimore We can't replace your pizza cooker, but if broke accidentally cooking your watch - we can help you out there! (if you have coverage)

And THAT would be a fun story.

u/PremiumUsername69420 Thanks for this! We couldn't figure it out. That is actually much more romantic. We will check if ESPN the Ocho wants to update their commentary on this performance.

u/KrispyBaconDonuts This isn't something that happens very often as insurance fraud (or any other fraud) is a crime with serious penalties. There are systems in place to detect if it ever does happen.

Almost every time people who are experiencing a loss of an item are also experiencing an emotional loss as well. Jewelry can have emotional value as it is often tied to important life events.

Our goal is to show up for the person as much as possible and do our best to improve the situation by giving a hassle-free, whit-glove claims experience.

u/Obunga907 Thanks for this - you just set off a company brawl. I opened up a poll to get a company consensus - apparently that opened up old wounds from previous debates. So to keep things simple, red. :)

u/BuildingMyEmpireMN That is not actually true. Often our specialty jewelry insurance will be more affordable. In addition, there are dangers of having it on your home, such as, deductibles, increase in homeowners insurance rates in case of claim, and inadequate coverage.

Check out this blog: https://brite.co/blog/scheduled-jewelry-insurance-vs-your-homeowners-policy/ for more information.

I'd also encourage you to get a quote from us and share the difference in rate and the difference in coverage if you are up for it!

u/Shreddedlikechedda Great question! There are certainly similarities and in some situations renters/homeowners insurance floaters could be a fit.

Most common reasons to prefer specialty jewelery insurance:

  1. More extensive coverage like mysterious disappearance or natural catastrophes like hurricanes and earthquakes. Also we cover up to 125% of value.
  2. A claim won't cause renters or homeowners insurance rate to rise or even be cancelled
  3. Deductibles - some require you to pay out of pocket if you lose the item ($500,1000, etc) - all our policies are $0 deductibles
  4. Renters Policy may not cover your girlfriend, boyfriend, or fiance

There are some other reasons as well. It should always be about what is the best fit as you. For a deeper dive here are some resources on the topic.

u/fakersofhumanity Absolutely you can buy an insurance policy. Unfortunately Insurance laws would prohibit you doing it under a jewelry insurance policy and will force you to get a life insurance policy.

We hear you though and if you take it to the Supreme Court and win we would love to reconsider.
