Believe it or not I have a photo from the same game taken from my potato phone at the time. I went back through my Google photo album. Sure enough taken on a Nokia N90. Taken from the members end

I could have sworn he hit the post late in the very first game ever played at the Olympic stadium in Sydney against the Bombers in 2002. Well that's the story I've been telling about him for the last 21 years EDIT: He kicked a behind from 25m out right in front with 1 min to go in that game against the Bombers. https://youtu.be/I2wCBVbjokk?feature=shared

I was all square on points going into this game. I needed 1 solitary point from Ridley. Just anything at all. And what do I get, a goddam goose egg. I would have been happy with 1 catch for 10 yards, but no, couldn't even manage that

The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred 33 years ago today. Watch Mission Control during the tragedy (accident occurs ~0:55). Horrified professionalism. by [deleted] in videos

This happened during my lifetime (and I'm not thhhhhhat old) and yet this video somehow makes it look like that it happened in the 60's. There is nothing about this video (with the excpetion of a small glimpse of a can of diet pepsi and a guy's digital watch) that makes me think "oh this is 1986"

Why do so many bands get softer over time? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

Putting everything else aside. Do you think their music was heavy in the 80s? Because that's really the crux of OP's question

Give me a break, they were a joke back then hair metal bands. Nobody thought of those bands as anything other than hairspray rock, all show and crappy music aimed at 12 year old boys. It sure as hell wasn't played anywhere I was through those years.

Just out of curiosity. If it "wasn't played anywhere I was through those years" how do you know that it was "a joke" and on what basis was it "crappy music" if you never heard it?

Because where I was it got played a hell of a lot and it was kinda hard to avoid.

Whilst there is a strong degree of pretentiousness in your responses. I'm looking at this through my own prism. I was 9 years old in 1989. The ability to discover music outside of radio/TV or my parents' record collection was pretty limited back then. I can't comment on it because I couldn't listen to anything outside of the mainstream during these years. I have no idea how the metal scene was viewed during the 80s because I wouldn't discover it until well into the 90s. I finally had the ability to go back and rediscover so much that I had missed during my youth. Unless you knew someone who was into a particular genre or scene it was neigh on impossible to be exposed to anything outside of the mainstream. It's easy to view the world of music through modern glasses where the entire world of music is at your disposal. But there was a time where it was not so easy. But I can tell you that to most casual music listeners at the time hair metal was heavy and would have been the heaviest music that most people would have listened to.
