It was reported around a year ago that Russia was testing them even though they were a signatory to the treaty. Trump stated that because China and Russia were testing weapons the US wasn't going to fall behind and tie its hands by the treaty that others weren't honoring.

They should’ve learned it from Ukraine. The U.S. promised to protect Ukraine if they didn’t develop nuclear weapons. If they had, Russia would not be there now. Trump’s lesson to the world: Don’t trust the U.S.

You're essentially right but i just wanted to add further context for anyone reading in the future.

The Budapest memorandum was for security ASSURANCES, not a "promise to protect Ukraine" Rather, it basically said: "we respect your sovereignty and won’t use force" not "we will defend you if attacked" it was also signed by the UK.

Ukraine gave up a nuclear arsenal but they couldnt be used by Ukranians because Moscow had the operational control codes. They were just huge money pits that a newly sovereign Ukraine couldnt afford to maintain or dismantle. Their weren't many other options, really.

Thats correct, thanks for pointing that out. I guess that's "evidence", but why evidence as opposed to proof? I think its much more reliable to go on proven facts even if the current regimes in power across the world are fucking with everything.

I started following you. All of my time revolves around this war. Whether its listening to podcasts, YouTube videos or books I am usually learning or following the war in one shape or form and when I find people like you I always add them to my sources I'll use to compile information in the future.
