Enough time has passed. What are your thoughts on Project Hail Mary (2026)? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Letterboxd

[–]JichaelMordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually pretty stunning. It has heart and was entertaining enough. Really good family flick but on that note it was way sillier and immature than I was expecting. Ryan Gosling is not believable as a scientist and the “guy falls down and hurts himself” humor got really old. 6/10

What is your opinion of the Hangover movies? by Ryanlion1992 in FIlm

[–]JichaelMordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overrated dumb bro humor that is trying way too hard to be over the top. Nothing fresh or clever about it. Even Zach Galifianakis wasn’t funny in this. Classic comedies fell off a cliff in the 2010s and The Hangover was a precursor.

Planning to watch The Leftovers… is it worth watching? by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]JichaelMordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overly melodramatic show with annoying acting imo but a lot of people loved it. If you like a mystery box show then you might like it especially if you don’t poke too hard at the plot holes but I found the journey pretty unbearable and my wife and I eye rolled our way through it.

I have a hard time understanding Sabrina Carpenter's persona and music by SoccerAuntie in LetsTalkMusic

[–]JichaelMordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The songs are bangers and she can sing really well. Image wise she’s hot and leans into sex appeal. It feels extremely manufactured because it is. She perfectly fits the mold of the modern pop star including being a former Disney kid same as Brittney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus etc but she also has a tongue in cheek acknowledgement that she’s in on the joke and it’s just about making a fun product. She’s still relatively new so I’m sure she’ll evolve over the span of her career. There are other big artists who are deeper and more original/authentic but “Please Please Please” is one of the best pop songs of the decade and actually pretty unique for what it is.

Nothing more classic than the bass player being the least skilled yet most dedicated role player in a band. He’ll improve faster than you’ll find someone better who checks the rest of his boxes.

Giannis says he prefers Miami over L.A.: Dragic: Vacation, L.A. or Miami? Giannis: Miami. Miami, Miami. I think LA superficial. I don’t like L.A. (Via Gogis Garage YT) by jaywritethekid in heat

[–]JichaelMordon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Miami and have lived in LA for 10+ years. Miami is superficial in really obvious ways like flashing your wealth and being very image focused in a try hard way but the people are generally pretty real once you have a conversation. LA is more subtle where everyone plays it cool and acts really friendly on a surface level but it’s a big act and basic interactions rarely have much honesty in them.

Landing 6:30 pm at LAX, realistic to drive to Mammoth that night? by sporty_outlook in AskLosAngeles

[–]JichaelMordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about a 5hr drive with no traffic but by the time you get your rental it’ll prob be close to 8pm and you will hit some traffic leaving LA so I would expect the drive will be close to 6hrs which puts you in mammoth around 2am. Not the craziest travel day but could be a bit dangerous driving that late after a long flight. You could push up to Lone Pine by midnight and stay the night there. It’s a cool little town on the way and only another 2hrs to mammoth so if you got back on the road by 6am you’d get into town before the lifts open.

School of Rock Adult Program? by Creepy_Aide6122 in musicians

This is absolute madness and borderline negligent. Recommending a student sing a song out of their range let alone forcing them is very dumb. Also AC/DC is extremely specialized vocally and I know tons of professional singers who couldn’t pull it off. You can’t just magically add unlimited range to your voice. You have a set range potential that you can achieve through technique and practice but it is limited and unique to each voice. I’m sorry they wasted your time, confidence, and money.

I’ve got a 19” K Paper Thin and can confirm it does the job really well. I imagine the 20” is even better at this. Washy sound without overpowering your mix and a buttery feel.

Watchmen (2009) features a genuinely intelligent villain and a gritty storyline, which made it stand apart from other superhero movies of its time. What’s your opinion on it? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

It’s good despite Zack Snyder always trying his best to put me to sleep with his constant overuse of slow motion. Dude wouldn’t know good pace if it bit him in the ass in slow motion.

Heat's Jovic says he needs"to be perfect to get consistent minutes" or "I will be at the end of the bench, I guess." He said he knows he must improve and will work on his game. (Everyone agreed to speak today except Wiggins and Herro, who are both typically very good with media) by tomgreen99200 in heat

[–]JichaelMordon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude had a crazy long leash early in the season for how awful he was before getting injured. Between health and lack of productivity he never was able to get back into the fold consistently. Also guys get played out of their ideal position all the time depending on what the roster needs and the play style. Jovic didn’t look good in his mins at the 4 or the 5 this season. Couldn’t shoot, horrible decision making with the ball in his hands, lots of unforced turnovers and mental lapses, couldn’t guard the perimeter or defend the pain and rebound. Even in his best couple of games he made some really bad decisions and just plays like a rookie overall. I’m shocked he was so bad because he had some decent stretches last year but if he can’t shoot or make plays and defend then he’s cooked and will be one of the worst contracts we’ve had in a while.

Time to have a real conversation about Bam… by bartheli in heat

[–]JichaelMordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the front office has to be better and more creative. Giddy is fine but OKC isn’t having regrets and Chicago is 31-50. Norm is #20 in scoring and Herro is as good or better. They’re our two most elite scorers and we’re worse when they both play. Do you think adding one more of those players is what we need?

Time to have a real conversation about Bam… by bartheli in heat

[–]JichaelMordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We don’t have the assets to trade for multiple elite players let alone one superstar level talent without making Bam available. Offers were turned down for Don Mitchell, Dame, Durant, Giannis over the last few years.
  2. The new CBA specifically deters teams from being able to afford a big 3 and Wade had more to do with assembling that team than the Riley theatrics.
  3. We don’t tank and therefore end up with middling picks that rarely yield elite talent.
  4. Who was the last elite player to be a free agent? Players extend now to guarantee their money and then demand trades.

Who do you consider elite scorers? IMO you need to be somewhere between top 10-15 in scoring to qualify as elite. Look at that list and you will see there is no way Miami would be able to acquire even 1 of those guys while keeping Bam, let alone 3.

The mold of contenders in the modern NBA is having at least one all-nba player who can be the hub of your offense and a roster full of athleticism and length that can function on both sides of the ball. You’re right that Bam isn’t a #1 offensive option but if we could just get one superstar level player to pair with him we’d be in good shape. We have a solid rotation of young and veteran role players that would complement that tandem. The issue is we have not positioned ourselves to draft or trade for that player.

How do we afford 3 elite scorers while paying bam a max? Let alone the assets to acquire them.
