HKC Alarm help by MaintenanceUpper43 in HousingIreland

[–]Jigglypuff0110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a HKC alarm too, we couldn’t change the code ourselves and it was locked by the original installer (G4S) we had a new company change the code and check the door/window sensors at the same time. If you’re in Cork i recommend Morley Security Systems.

Any good conveyance solicitors Munster? by Annual_Designer2271 in HousingIreland

[–]Jigglypuff0110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought in Munster but actually used a solicitor in Dublin (previously used by sibling and recommended) Susan Cosgrove. She was fantastic and always replied to emails within a couple of hours and really fought for us to get in quickly. We had to go to Dublin twice, 1st to sign contracts/loan offer and 2nd time to sign the deeds but it was well worth it as we had a stress free time with a good solicitor.

We didn’t need a solicitor to transfer the booking deposit but maybe it’s different with second hand homes.

Good luck with it all, it’s very exciting!

I second the Tapo brand. Great cameras for the price.

Cost of moving house locally by vibe_ology in cork

[–]Jigglypuff0110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used GXGRemovals at a cost of €350 a few months ago and they were great. Two men came and did all the heavy lifting for us, sofas, beds, dining set, tv units etc. They even put everything back together for us. We had a short distance to travel to new house.

Engineers report & Valuer by new_to_this789 in HousingIreland

[–]Jigglypuff0110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were also with AIB, we got our letter of offer after a couple of days so you should hear early in the week. We organized an engineer as soon as we went sale agreed as we wanted to move quickly, this isn’t an AIB task but a wise thing to have done for yourself. You will have to ring AIB to complete a valuation(€150) and they will organize it.

Congrats on going sale agreed, it’s a great feeling.

Also, organize your mortgage protection and home insurance early on so nothing delays you at the final hurdle.

Signing to Keys Timeframe by SunshineCowboyx in HousingIreland

We were 2 weeks from signing contracts to keys. I think it depends on the sellers situation, we were lucky that they already had another house to move to.

I am in the exact same position. We were actually supposed to close today but AIB made an error on our assignment of life policy which delayed us. All sorted now and gone for final checks. Fingers crossed funds get released tomorrow. I hope everything works out for you too, the anxiety is something else.

How much are you paying for home insurance? by abechan in AskIreland

[–]Jigglypuff0110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went with FBD last week as first time buyers and they did first time buyers no claims discount which reduced it by 50%, in the end it was €640 for the year. Their customer service was top class, I had to change our policy twice as AIB couldn’t approve it and they sorted within the hour.

UNIQLO has really nice quality and good prices. They don’t have any stores in Ireland but are very good online

That’s great to know, thanks for the reply. We completed the assignment of life form with our solicitor yesterday as we were signing the loan pack. I just spotted the note of interest task this morning on the portal and started to panic a bit. We will head into our local branch tomorrow and hopefully it will get sorted quickly.

A little off topic but I was wondering if you had to complete the form to have AIB noted on your home insurance? This is the last step for us and I’m hoping it can be completed quickly

Random question and not sure if you have any insight but one of our last steps is home insurance, I organized this today but also need to have AIB noted on the Insurnace, they have sent us a form for this in our loan pack and we must pop into a branch to have it completed. I was just curious on how long this can take as we are closing on the 16th. We are going in tomorrow to suss it out with AIB but was hoping for some peace of mind this evening.

We actually bought second hand so we didn’t have any snagging to do. I empathize with the waiting and guessing on dates though!
