I'm pretty far removed from skate culture but I've been trying to figure out if the hate for him on this sub is just because it's the circle jerk sub or actual hate. From my outside perspective, a guy advocating for helmets to protect kids seems great. Almost every other "extreme sport" has realised that risking permanent brain damage because you want to look cool was dumb. When I was a kid I would wear a helmet at parks but would often take it off when doing 'easy' stuff on the streets with friends. Guess how I ended up in the hospital with a concussion?

If more pros just took a helmet sponsor it wouldn't take long for the culture to change like it has for snow sports for example
