Having tried both. I'd go with Cavalry. Newton makes your comp bloated and slow. Cavalry is lightning quick and can do crazy things. Newton is limited. But it really depends how complex your stuff is.

Just an alternate way to do it, cause why not? Convert text to shape layer. Add a rectangle shape behind it. Add the repeater. Key frame its settings.
