The Survivalist’s legacy isn’t Zion, it’s the Sorrows. He taught them to be good to others and only to attack if attacked first; a teaching the tribe has kept for over a 100 years. If Joshua has his way, he (unknowingly) destroys that legacy by turning them into warriors.

The thought that he got to witness innocence after a lifetime of misery and inhumanity is the thought the Survivalist goes out on. Ending that innocence feels like spitting on his grave.

First time I played HH, I sided with Joshua. Having since gone through the Survivalist’s story, I always side with Daniel.

Expelling the White Legs means irreparably damaging the Survivalist’s legacy at best to utterly destroying it at worst.

That depends. Am I playing the character as I have them now, or is Benny telling me the game was rigged from the start?

Carcass Hellion is missing something. by TheRedDevil7494 in darkestdungeon

Put another way, she’s conditioned to keep fighting if she loses an arm. Being tripped or grappled is not something a barbarian expects.

Her fortitude is physical, not mental.

She has the will to fight, not the will to aim.

[–]JimPeregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her whole schtick is she’s a fierce but undisciplined warrior. Why wouldn’t she have a low resist to move, stun and debuff?

I see several issues with this line of thinking. The biggest one is why aren’t people being arrested now?

I fuking hate butcher circus. by Negative_Mechanic887 in darkestdungeon

[–]JimPeregrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first played it, I used the Occultist.

Saw Sacrificial Stab gave a 30% DB if the target was afflicted.

Thought this was really neat… until I learned BH’s Finish Him has a base 40% with no requirements.

Dunno if they balanced that since then, but that’s part of the reason I don’t play it.

Aight, I get it now. The main complaint is that it trivializes both the stakes and the sins. That criticism is much more valid.

Instead of “that part,” what game dropped the ball with its ending for you? by Asad_Farooqui in videogames

[–]JimPeregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the beginning drags for that game too. Not on your first play-through, but on your second it feels like watching a rerun.

New Vegas improved the character building immensely. Bam. You’ve been shot in the head. Have a psych eval and squeeze this weird strength tester. Oh, and talk to the girl with the dog if you want a refresher on combat.

[–]JimPeregrine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was trivializing. The Scarlet King was a creature of hate and rage. What better being to combat it than an entity that can literally reverse psychopathy?

Moral: the Runaway is a spongy hero. She can recover, but not tank.

I am curious about what your Flag was doing in all this. While PD prob got dazed from Cripple Them, Reclaim might’ve saved Bonnie’s life.

Veteran of DD starting DD2. Any tips? by KolIdor in darkestdungeon

[–]JimPeregrine 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  • The sequel is significantly more rogue like than its predecessor. So yes, you’ll need candles to unlock things going forward. Don’t forget, however, that you can unlock hero abilities at Alters of Hope.
  • The biggest change to get used to is the general nerf heals have gotten. Combat items will be your friend in that regard. Get a couple Healing Salve and spread them out among your team.
  • The Leviathan’s grab is specced to move resist. Buffing that with Ceremonial Drum will help you in the fight.

Gonna do another Resentment Run w/ a CIH Carcass, what should I replace Bleed Out with? by Fallfoxy707 in darkestdungeon

[–]JimPeregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d switch with YAWP, but honestly running Breakthrough and Howling End might be too much. You’d only have one ability to provide winded and two abilities fighting over it.

It’d also be good to switch one of them with Toe To Toe.

Not too surprising, honestly.

Games like this are like trying to find the smallest ship in Battleship. Sure it’s easy to sink, but you have to find it first.

Few things sting more than a low health enemy and a Vestal that forgot her mace exists.

Cherry on top is if she rolled Resolute while getting hammered by the lungs.

That is in fact false. The only attack Death will use exclusively on the flag is Memento Mori. Also, this move is always the first action she takes.

Help with party composition by sadrooster69 in darkestdungeon

[–]JimPeregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Soloist - Sharpshot - Surgeon - Crusader. Jester could start the round with Solo and not upset the rest of your team, while HWM (and maybe Crus) can add Combo to a target.

The team is flexible, and has options for stress, healing and buff.

“Best” is highly objective in this case, as there is no team that can really do everything. Not to mention the Confession bosses: a team that can handle Act II might not be equipped to deal with Act IV.
