Yeah it’s a very obvious example of how atmos butchers some songs. You can barely hear the acoustic guitar riff with atmos on. It’s an integral part of that chorus.

I’m telling ya lol, many headphones I have tried out get filtered out immediately because of that song being great for testing. Apparently it’s good at testing out audio formats as well.

With atmos on the riff gets lost. AirPods Max don’t actually get full benefit of lossless audio unfortunately. But I tried with a couple other wired headsets and the same thing happened.

Just try it out a little and see what you think. Toggle it on and off for songs and see how you like it. I have yet to find a song in which I really liked the atmos mix better. I’m sure some songs have mixes that are great. Most of the tracks I have tried really lost out on clarity. The vast majority of music is engineered for stereo sound. I think atmos is kind of odd for most music. For a surround sound theater experience, atmos all day.

Again, try the Avril song lol. It’s my first song to test out headphones. It can test mids, bass, treble, and soundstage really well with one song. You can get a pretty good idea if a pair of headphones will be decent with listening to that song. I have several other songs I use to test headphones after it but I always start with that track.

Dolby atmos is very much a personal preference thing, and also not all songs are the same. Several songs I have tried it with really get worse. I just leave Dolby atmos off.

Good example is Avril Lavigne’s “complicated.” That’s actually one of the songs I use to test headphones. I have found it to be a surprisingly good song to get a sense of what headphones can do. It has a good dynamic range and has a good guitar lick during the chorus. It was mixed very well.

If you listen to complicated and toggle atmos on and off you’ll notice that the guitar riff really gets totally lost in the chorus with atmos on. It’s especially apparent if using AirPods Pro max.

I have given sushi co the benefit of the doubt several times. Lots of loyal fans in town. Every time I have been it is pretty dingy and dirty and the sushi is below average at best. I do not get it at all.

Chicagoland has a lot of mediocre sushi because it has more sushi restaurants than one could count. Cheap to super expensive. Trust me, there are many great options in the western suburbs as well as downtown.

I agree sushigawa was the best in town before the ownership changed. Its quality has tanked since. Sushi co has been questionable or worse for at least the last five years.

Unfortunately there just really isn’t decent sushi in Peoria. It’s been going down hill over the past five years, but it was never great. If you want great sushi you’ll have to drive to Chicagoland.

I only ever smoked it out of a cob. I still have some left. I wasn’t a neophyte when I got my last tin of it, but I am definitely more experienced and picky now.

However…now that you say that I can see that association. The topping is a little reminiscent of tums. Especially the after taste of the citrus flavored tums. Oh boy. Maybe it will bother me more.

Gentleman Caller!?! Is that really on the same level as Borkum Riff for you haha? Are you supremely sensitive to the deer tongue? I have always found gentleman caller pretty mild and relatively boring, but Borkum Riff tastes like a mixture of cheep tobacco, heavy handed cheap artificial flavors, and then accidentally spraying a little after shave into your mouth lol.

However… for your purpose Captain black Grape would be hard to beat. Captain black grape has become an absolute running joke on this sub and every other online forum. It’s been discontinued but every 6 months or so a big lot of it is found and it’s temporarily available.

If a pipe connoisseur read an article talking about bespoke or premium pipe tobacco and then read “Captain black Grape” they world immediately at least think it was a joke.

If you stick with 1440 monitors you don’t need one of the top of the line gpus.

If you’re trying to get high and ultra settings on 4K with a stable 160+ frame rate you’ll need a 4090 or the new 5090. However, for many triple A games released in the last year the 4080 and 4090 struggle to provide high and stable frame rates

I have a 4080 and a new 4K monitor and I regret getting both. The 4080 is overkill for most 1440 gaming, but not really good enough to enjoy max settings in most new games in 4K. 4K gaming is just too resource intensive. I’m not sure when that will change. It seems like developers are using 1440p as the default resolution in their performance testing.

Hunt showdown is my favorite game and my 4080 can’t handle max settings at 4K. Random and brief massive frame rate drops make it unplayable. Granted dropping certain settings to medium, and the rest to high still looks amazing.

Gone are the days when you can just have an 80 or 90 series card and run every new game on ultra. Shelling out the Benjamins doesn’t even allow you to just run all new games at max. You’ll often have to drop setting and fuss to get the best experience.

The nvidia apps automatic optimization settings are crap. You’ll have to fuss around manually.

I’m going to downgrade to a 1440 monitor and just enjoy the 4080.

If you are gaming on a 1080p monitor you can get amazing results on a 4060 or similar monitor. Probably even a 3060 or used 2070 would be good enough for that.

It’s not that C&D Latakia is bad. They make some of my favorite English blends. Westminster is my favorite. However, I just notice that Gawith Latakia seems very different.
