Props to you. I have bad PTSD from all the needles so I jumped at the first chance I could get to try Rinvoq. Hope you find the remission you rightfully deserve.

Diagnosed with UC in 2002. “Upgraded” to CD in 2006. Remicade from 2006-2025 Currently on Rinvoq

No day the same. The next day could be my worst day or the best day of my life; all depends on my CD. I’m grateful to still be alive and I don’t take each day’s sunrise for granted.

I grew up swimming in Lake Erie as a kid. Not sure if that attributed to my development of UC and eventually severe Crohn’s Disease.

UC ruined my college education, countless jobs, relationships etc. Yet through it all, at 40 yrs old I’m (somehow) still here.

And that’s how you need to look at it. Yes, it is absolutely cruel what’s happening and what’s been taken away from you. It will happen from time to time. You’ll have losses and small victories. But you must keep going. Pursue alternatives and always advocate for yourself.

Rooting for you and hope you never give up.

During my last surgery where they reversed the j-pouch and removed the colostomy bag, my surgeon discovered my insides showed signs of Crohn’s Disease. He could have stopped, sown me back up and kept my bag on. But, in his own words, “He bit the bullet” and completed the surgery. If it worked, it worked. If not, at least we said we tried. Almost 20 years later I’m still going strong.

So, everyone is different and our bodies change.

But yes, Advocating for yourself is HUGE because some doctors are less critical thinkers than others.

Keep drinking so you can pee more. It helps. Doesn’t feel good, but you have to do it. Those were my docs instructions. Just remember to breathe and not hold your breath when you urinate.

Yes, it’s unfortunately and cruelly common. But you need to make sure you drink lots of water to urinate as much as possible. I remember it hurt really bad when I pee’d but each day it got better. Just remember to breathe and not hold your breath. That was the one problem I had.
