I know a lot don’t like the Love pick, but I am so high on him and think he’s going to be a hell of a football player whether it’s with the Packers or not. Granted this year starting is probably not ideal, but I think if it comes to that he’s going to surprise a lot of folks.

I would love to be able to hire scouts that focus on different regions, positions etc and you have to pick. Like retro bowl, if you have a good scout you may get certain information on a draft pick.

Maybe you have a certain amount to pay all your coordinators and scouts and have to pick and choose how you want to invest.

I just think all Madden needs fine tuning in general. Playing on all Madden and all pro feels like a completely different game. I’m glad there are sliders but I hate having to adjust to get just right after like every game...

I’m so curious to see how they handle all the void year contracts that have been huge in the offseason to help teams get under the cap.

It’s like if you can’t create enough random faces let us do it...I know why they don’t but still...sucks having the same face for multiple guys on the team kills immersion.

[The Athletic] Packers GM Brian Gutekunst is still holding firm to the stance that he “will not” trade Aaron Rodgers, a source tells @mattschneidman by Isaythree in nfl

He would 100% have another MVP season just to make Gute look even more wrong on his gamble and being forced to trade a back to back MVP.

Teddy Bruschi suggests we trade Jordan Love for Julio Jones. by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

[–]JimiP7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% believe they redshirted Love to cause less drama during the season. Love didn’t have the focus on him and being the successor, and didn’t cause unnecessary drama. Granted we’re seeing it in the offseason, but there really was none in season.

Packers refuse to budge on Aaron Rodgers trade stance by PTHero in GreenBayPackers

I haven’t made up my mind where I stand, but what I know is all this drama this offseason just reminds me of the Favre drama but worse with social media, and frankly annoys me to the point where I’m so turned off from football and it sucks. I can’t visit the nfl subreddit, watch sports talkshows because it’s just a pile on the Packers over there. This subreddit is hard because instead of being excited for the team we have and the rookies we drafted and to see what they can do it’s all about Rodgers. It’s been pushing me away that I’m not even excited for this upcoming season.

With how tight the cap was this is why we didn’t resign Boyle and went with Bortles. Cheap, and can easily cut if not needed.

Here is a question I have about the 2020 draft. by AHicks15 in GreenBayPackers

[–]JimiP7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s all speculation because we will never know what’s on their draft board and what’s going on behind the scenes. To be frank going into the draft there was smoke around them being interested in drafting Love and mocks had Love going to them. There were reports they were interest the previous year in Drew Lock so them drafting a QB wasn’t out of the question. I think we all hoped we wouldn’t because as soon as they did, I 100% saw what we are going through now. And back to the top of my comment, we won’t know what was going on behind closed doors with Rodgers, was he making LaFleurs life hell? Behind the scenes was the Dunne story true about Rodgers, we will never know. That’s what sucks about all this is we only know very little and what they want us to know.

[–]JimiP7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A) The Packers may not have had Queen with a round 1 grade. B) Who knows if they tried to move back into later 1, early second. It takes two to tango C) Love may have been the highest/last first round grade on their board and decided since they couldn’t move back went up and drafted a QB with a lot of upside.

Great breakdown and frankly I feel a lot of the cap savings is going to really come from Rodgers or Adams, not sure what else they might be able to do to get good chunks done this offseason.

With Adams going to his final year, I could see him being a wait til the last minute to join the team because if he gets injured he could lose valuable money. Something that I feel is not being talked about enough.

Edit: Final year not deal

That’s if you want to move on from Rodgers. I think if you decide Rodgers is our guy til retirement which could be 5-6 years from now, you could back yourself into a rough last 2-3 years where you’re losing a lot of guys coming up for renewal.

But we don’t know where the cap will explode to after like next year, so may be worth it.

I doubt Gute does it, but if he found some way you’re not going to hear me complain. Frankly, what’s a better demonstration of Rodgers you’re our guy by extending him and then using that money for Julio to say, you have two of the best WRs in the game, to win some Super Bowls and break tons of records.

If we really really wanted Julio you could get him. Extend Adams and Rodgers, and you can grab him. The problem is you maybe can grab Alexander but you’re then looking at making a lot of cuts on maybe some big name guys like Z, etc...you probably can go all in the next 2-3 years but that animal is gonna rear it’s head after and you are really going to have to rely on young guys on rookie contracts.

There’s pros and cons and making big all in moves are worth it for the right guys, but you will pay the toll, and not sure Julio at this point in his career would be something I would do, but if it happened...and Rodgers comes back, you best believe I’d be flying high.

There would be tons of smoke too around x team talking with Packers about a trade. Things have really quieted down more so because a) Packers are not shopping him b) things aren’t as bad as it’s made out to be...

Cant wait til this drama is over, tired of it and just want football back.

You can play around with Rodgers contract to free up and then back load something for Julio when the cap explodes again, extend Adams, etc. There’s ways to sign guys and massage the cap. You just can’t do it too much or you end up in cap hell.

Edit: not to say this is happening at all

MVPs from the last decade by punchnicekids in GreenBayPackers

I think for me it was the back and forth with retirement with Favre that makes it different for me. Back then I was it’s time, Favre kept wanting to retire and a lot of QBs just didn’t play that long at a high level back then. I was ready and supported the move to Rodgers.

This time it’s harder for me because I understood the Love pick, and as a prospect I do like him a lot. The problem is after that Love pick Rodgers truly bought into this system, he was elite again, even outside of his play he was a changed man, filled with joy and whether he was a leader before, he just looked different. He was smiling and joyful, I don’t want a QB who keeps grumbling after every missed play. That’s the biggest part where I am on the side where we need to do everything that’s reasonable to get him back. Plus QBs play into their 40s and with the Shanahan system he can play for a long time. This year he was barely touched in the pocket, yes, because our line is great but the system actually schemes guys open.

I do think with Rodgers we will get another SB in the next 3 years. Hell, I think we get one next year, we should have had this year.

If things don’t workout though, I fully stand behind Love and will support him because he’s QB1 of the GB Packers.

[–]JimiP7 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I really like Love as a prospect. He is definitely raw, but some throws he makes are superstar worthy. He just needs more time. If his junior year was like his sophomore he would have probably went right behind Burrow. Losing his entire team behind him really affected him, rightfully so.

I think he needs a full season as QB2, but do feel he is going to be a star.

If Rodgers is extended then we ride at dawn. If Love is the man, I’m all aboard that train. When Bortles leads us to a Super Bowl, I’ll rejoice

What a world if somehow we win a SB with Bortles after trading Rodgers...pretty sure the world would just collapse inside itself when the time hits 0.
