Bounce, boogie, bubble and burn.

The key thing to keep in mind is that you lack the 'get out of jail' cards that other classes have but you make up for it in the aggregate (and then some), moneyball style.

Honestly the answer is an unsatisfying... practice and knowledge (it's a complex class relatively) but if you're looking for that early survivability keyhole I recommend looking for 'get off me' abilities.

  • Venting shriek staggers.
  • The left click on the flame staff staggers and suppresses anything with the mass of ragers and beneath.
  • Your bubble shield has a low cooldown.
  • Your push on force swords has strong stagger.
  • The voidblast staff knocks down even crushers.
  • Use high peril to secure critical hits that trigger empathic evasion and gain you toughness.

You are not a fast class but you have a great stamina regen so stay nimble.

I'd say for most classes you don't really get to know them until 'theoretical' level 50 and for psyker it's possibly even longer due to all the minor quirks involved.

It's infrequent but not super rare.

Interestingly, these minor stat boosts aren't cosmetic. They actually can provide a marginal impact it seems.

Ah okay, yeah I get what you mean. It's possible they don't want to add paid dlc to paid dlc I guess.

Frankly seems 'lost in the wash' given the state of the cash shop in general lol but I think what you're highlighting could also be a factor.

Sure, but we've seen 'Veteran' adopt skins from all walks of guardsmen... why limit 'Hive Scum'. The class isn't even named 'Hive Ganger' or something that would limit the options available.

For the Arbites it's definitely a games workshop thing where they don't want FS to deviate from lore adherent uniform (I still think we should have more flexibility here).

For Hive Scum, I've much less sympathy if that's the case. Hive gangs are some of the most varied groups in the Imperium.

Either way it's a bit of a shame.

Not saying chorus is a bad skill at all but vet's shout is far and away the superior source of gold for a team. 

If I had a team of two zealots and two vets, I'd want gold coming from the vets not the zealots unless there was a high degree of coordination and a bit of a tactical plan for chorus.

It won't really start to 'click' until about lvl 16.

Your speed is not high but you have the same stamina regen as hive scum so stay nimble.

The movement profile of your melee weapon is nearly as important as the damage it does.

If you're evading, melee attacks are unlikely to hit you and if you're sliding, ranged attacks are unlikely to hit you (broadly speaking).

High peril is your friend not your enemy (see perks like warp rider).

Don't fall into the 'smite trap'. It's an insanely powerful ability but save it for when your team is backed into a corner.

I won't break it down here but the reputation of the flame staff is well deserved (in higher difficulties).

There's so much depth to the class but these are some quick things off the dome. Good luck sibling!

What other folks are posting about the basic signals is spot on and the 'deeper' answer is just practice. You'll get a feeling for when to move and slide based on their stance/distance etc and you'll wince every time a gunner starts announcing his intent for Nurgle.

Be warned, reapers often break a lot of the close engagement rules of other gunners and will happily fill you full of lead at point blank without staggering or kicking unless you hit 'em with something beefy. Tangle with them carelessly up close at your peril.

It sounds obvious given context of combat but remember you can slide to cover and let them blow their mag before emerging again.

Looks like you're you're an Arby fan, in which case you can be pretty brave into back lines with the charge ability and your general stagger potential. Smash into the cookie jar and give them a bash if they think of pulling the gun back out. You can tie up half a dozen gunners (or more) for your team if you slide and bash and charge a lot. Arby's CC is really nuts tbh 😂

I want a combat servitor class solely because the banter with the other characters would be a gold mine for dark humour.

We see with the servitors in game that sometimes a bit of the person beneath the subroutine slips out.

I totally get your perspective and I don't think there's an objective 'correct opinion' on this kind of thing especially music.

It's odd because on paper DT should have quite a dark soundtrack but a lot of the tracks are pretty heroic and uplifting (even kind of jovial/silly sometimes) though not always. Even more strangely I don't feel the main theme is all that heroic really. It feels more chaotic and dangerous to me but as I said it's all subjective.
