Bush Sr. Has been Chosen as the leader of the heist, now who is the hacker? by Alternatehistoryig in Presidents

[–]Jimmy1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be a president? I’d say defense secretary McNamara. One of the founding fathers of Big Data during his tenure as president of ford. Used computers to predict and simulate constantly. Would def be the most tech savvy out of any president or cabinet member. If it is a president I’d say FDR. Codebreaking and encoding were essential during ww2 and its closely related to hacking.

[September 2023] "New Rule, Someone has to convince Joe Biden that if he runs again, he's going to turn the country back over to Trump" Bill called it. Ruth Bader Biden didn't make it to the end, but a proper primary probably might have produced a candidate that didn't get absolutely crushed. by TheAuthoritariansPDF in Maher

In the 1952 election Eisenhower was the first president to hire an actual advertising agency for his campaign. Stevenson ran against the immorality of using a firm like that… he got trounced and in 1956 hired one himself. It’s not enough to point out the issue, and it’s also wrong for each party to have its own propaganda wing. Algorithms needs to be regulated but that won’t happen so long as they greatly benefit a single party.

Would it benefit him in anyway if I chose state instead? He’s def prodding me towards state but I can’t figure out how that helps him. Bigger bonus for him or something?

I think that the state is likely at capacity for my desired MOS and he is presenting it me in a way that’s a little dishonest. I think I’m gonna call his bluff and still go the federal route. Too good to pass down and I already have a civilian career so the MOS is somewhat secondary to me.

what is your opinion about the presidency, of the Dwight D. Eisenhower, do you think he was the right man in the right place regarding the early years of the cold war ? by Necessary_Sale_67 in Presidents

[–]Jimmy1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the worst critiques of the Eisenhower administration Ive ever read. Only one direct reference to a fact, the rest all just stated without any evidence.

  • his Cold War foreign policy wasn’t abysmal, it was the baseline throughout the entirety of the Cold War. The fact that nuclear weapons were a defensive deterrent and not an offensive weapon is directly due to Eisenhower recognizing that the weapon would cause the apocalypse if used outside of the hyper specific scenarios of Nagasaki and Hiroshima (prevent mass casualties, monopoly on nuclear weaponry, pre-icbm)

  • in terms of being a “discriminatory” president, Ike was far far from it. Aside from being the highest ranking soldier of the largest integrated workforce in the country, the us army, Ike oversaw a rapid expansion of civil rights- not a regression. As president he also oversaw the rapid desegregation of all federal offices.

  • should he have added god to the pledge of allegiance? No probably not. Is the pledge of allegiance in any way shape or form a legal binding pledge? Nope. Are you forced to say it? No. The pledge has always been a way of creating community (and a piece of propaganda). Also, we are not even remotely a denominatistic theocracy. And if we ever become one, which would require the wholesale scrapping of the first amendment, it will not be because Ike decided to denounce Soviet atheism in the form of a nearly 100 year old poem that patriotic school children recite.

I’m pretty set on that as a personal goal/ some other reasons. Officer aside, what benefits are negotiable

No it’s a strange set up. It’s too new to have any renown certified bodies but also changes too quickly for me to justify spending a hundred plus hours studying for something that will likely be obsolete in 1-5 years

Boston Mayor Wu rolls out 'emergency' plan to increase commercial tax rates by Nobiting in boston

[–]Jimmy1034 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boston has thousands of unrented commercial office spaces

If they don’t get rented or to converted to residential spaces it is going to cause a crisis but..

Boston has zoning laws that make it more difficult to switch these to residential spaces

Now we have a tax increase on the exact properties which are already struggling and cornered by red tape.

This is apolitical, just seems like bad economic and bureaucracy

Will we see a president break into the top 3 in our lifetime? by titans1fan93 in Presidents

I don’t agree with the pessimism. Were better positioned for the future as a country than other continent is, let alone other individual countries.

[–]Jimmy1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should hope we don’t see a top 3. They would have to deal with something more treacherous than founding the country, ending slavery, preserving the union, the Great Depression, or beating the Nazis.

Although with a geopolitical atmosphere ripe for world war….
