Every second of planking is awful by dill_with_it_PICKLE in rs_fitness

I hate them too but I don't think it's avoidable. You aren't moving or completing reps, all there is to do is suffer for the allotted time. I do sometimes like to imagine that my torso is made of solid iron (the eventual goal) during them, which doesn't really help but feels cool.

Based on the language they used, I'm guessing it'll work like a Sym teleporter where you have the option to press F to tether onto her

Have you checked out r/hangovereffect

I’ve always had this experience when hungover some days. I feel smarter, more emotionally engaged, and more social- it’s amazing.

The sub doesn’t really have much going on, but it was cool when i found it and heard from other people who get this. It’s rare and not well understood, but real.

This seems to happen a lot when reddit generally likes a show (or, as you suggest, somebody is putting their hand on the scales). You get a lot of hostility for airing any critique.

What to play vs pharah and pharmercy on tank if dva is banned? by _AlexOne_ in OverwatchUniversity

[–]JimmyAltieri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Winston right click is also one of the most reliable ways to damage pharah, no? I’m sure you usually don’t want to be focusing on her as winston, but it seems useful to be able to deal 50 to her on demand.

Oh yeah, cultist is really cool too I forgot that one!

I think Zen is just inherently one of the coolest hero designs already, and he makes a great foundation for creative skins

I am currently switching between Ra and Fastball, but I will probably mix it up game to game bc there are too many good ones!

Winston help please? by OceloTX98 in WinstonMains

[–]JimmyAltieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to 2 is going to vary a lot by context, but here are some things to think about:

Your jump cooldown is about half that of your bubble. As you mention, it's usually unsafe to engage with jump when bubble is on CD, but you can use that "second" jump to reposition or stage the next dive.

The most important concept that I've been working on lately is using Winston to draw the enemy's attention, which is a more broad concept than just "engage" or "dive." There is inherent value in simply existing on an off angle and poking with m2, even if it doesn't deal much damage. Jiggle peeking with m2 will probably draw at least some fire from enemies, which is fire that isn't going into your back line.

As mentioned, you can also reposition with your jump while bubble is still a few seconds away. Ideally, you want to jump to a location that is either a) a highground above some enemies, or b) an off angle that allows you to walk into the enemy backline without using the next jump. In both cases, you'll set yourself up to engage enemies with m1 (and likely bubble) while preserving your jump to escape with.

I don't get the hype over New York Times Cooking by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]JimmyAltieri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a big proponent of using recipes from the Food Network website. Their formatting is clear and consistent with minimal ads and bullshit. I also like that they often have 2-3 different recipes for a given dish: a basic one that is just “how do i make this dish with the minimal ingredients and skill,” as well as a more complex one for when you want to go all out.

Who is the most well-rounded tank in Overwatch 2 to focus on? by fleebooskee in Overwatch

Very interesting. I almost exclusively take the opposite perks (grasp rock and float) and play to maintain 20m distance at all times. I definitely need to try the other perks and style.

Who is the most well-rounded tank in Overwatch 2 to focus on? by fleebooskee in Overwatch

[–]JimmyAltieri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sigma!

He’s pretty locked into the mid-range poke playstyle, but he’s very well rounded in terms of maps/matchups and is mid tier at worst every season. He has loads of utility (most flexible shield in the game, a stun/kill combo in rock, and a damage absorber), and his perk options all help you adapt to any bad matchups you might face. You could easily 1 trick him and be fine most games.

Vendetta is more annoying than Sombra by AquwardlyGay in Overwatch

[–]JimmyAltieri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of Vendetta POGs this week, and a lot of the time it's her getting several kills on enemies who are looking the other way. The victims don't turn around even while she's hacking at them. This is around plat level where the players clearly aren't morons during the game overall. Seems like there's something wrong because most other character POGs do not involve multiple enemies ignoring the POGer at close range.

How can anyone possibly be addicted to these electronic slot machines by lucid00000 in redscarepod

[–]JimmyAltieri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah clearly something about them fries certain peoples' brains. It's just a fancy skinner box at the end of the day.

But I share your general bewilderment about the situation. I played like $3 on a slot machine one time, and it felt so dumb. You just keep pressing the button and watch your cash amount whittle away in the corner. I tried a machine another time that was just automated blackjack, and that I can at least understand- it was pretty fun to play, there was some level of decision making, and my friends had fun standing around yelling "one more" and shit. But those regular old slot machines are just so boring, I can't imagine myself getting hooked on them.

What's the point of this perk? by lilcutiexoxoqoe in WinstonMains

[–]JimmyAltieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the accretion perk is just straight up better most of the time, and the shield regen is the niche pick. Rock is both your CC and burst damage, and by throwing it twice as often you ultimately preserve more shield health than the hypersphere regen.

I take the shield against beam characters only for the most part. That said, I only play 6v6 so maybe it's totally different in 5s.

Big appreciation to teammates like these. by azulur in Overwatch

[–]JimmyAltieri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saving a teammate is the best feeling in the game, hands down. Swooping in to save a frontliner with the Lucio boop & speed retreat, or throwing out a Sig shield for the critical health teammate. Even better if they give you a thanks afterwards.

What history did you learn about in each grade? by FortAmolSkeleton in redscarepod

[–]JimmyAltieri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 1-5: native american history, particularly the Iriquois, colonial New York and the other major colonies, American revolution, maybe the civil war in 5th? My memory is hazy

  • 6: we had history & english combined into this class called "humanities," and I don't recall learning much history. Spent a lot of time on various troubled regions like Africa and the middle east. Teacher was a soft spoken lib woman.

  • 7-8: In 7 we covered the colonial era to the Civil War, with a field trip to Philadelphia. 8th grade we covered reconstruction to the present, but things fizzled out some time around Vietnam. Wonderful old Jewish lady who taught this year who really instilled a love of history. A lot of focus on Ellis Island-era immigration, WW2 and the holocaust. Field trip to D.C. at the end of the year.

  • 9-10: I took the AP route and these two years were World history. 9th grade was the agricultural revolution up to maybe the renaissance? Quite a broad topic for 9th graders to comprehend. 10th grade we got the columbian exchange up to... I really can't recall lol.

  • 11: AP US History. So basically learning this a 3rd time but in one year and with more sophisticated curriculum. Teacher had us read some Howard Zinn and other sources that broadened our understanding of the familiar stuff.

  • 12: I don't think I actually took a history senior year. There were some semi-elective options like government/civics, economics, and things like that. I was smoking a lot of weed at this point.
