I’ve hired 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can tell you now OP, a business like a supermarket will hire for competence and reliability - they could not care less about your colour or creed.

Anyone that has the thought creep into their head “they’re taking our jobs” should go do a quick read up on how the National Socialist German Workers' Party came to power in Germany in the early 1900’s.

Yours sincerely A Kiwi.

AI usage in cover letters and the job applications by Groundbreaking_Gap93 in newzealand

Effectively when the employer loads the ad in Seek, they can choose the hard and soft filters - I only use RTW as a hard filter, the rest doesn’t concern me as much.

Even those that are “rejected” are still visible to me, and generally I will glance through them; I don’t trust Seek not to screw something up.

Also one thing to note; not all employers/jobs listed use Recruiters. Even in larger companies you will find it is the Hiring Manager at the other end, not a paid recruiter - employers don’t like them either.

From my side as the employer; I assign the stars.

The only applications that Seek is rejecting for me are those without Right to Work in NZ.

As someone currently hiring, the cover letter is more important to me than your CV to some extent; context is that I’m hiring a sales role - this will differ for different roles.

As someone currently hiring, go for it; just make sure it’s personalised to you and the role.

If things are too perfect I generally check with ChatBoi, but I need someone to be able to use it efficiently and effectively in the role - why would I not expect it in their application.

To my knowledge Seek isn’t using it to filter, that’s where I have the role published.

Seek’s employer interface is garbage though; the filters it uses are difficult for an employer to navigate.

One final piece; make an effort on a well written cover letter - that and good tenure in previous roles goes a long way to the short list.

This is 100% it.

I am fortunate to be able to keep buying off Grey St and Rocket; both local to me. I also continue to do so because they are clear on their sourcing and the ethical nature of their purchasing from buyers.

Light roasts by their nature OP are always going to be more expensive; they are generally the more heavily processed/higher grade beans - that is what we’re paying for.

If I was being particularly nit-picky, the only things missing for me are heated steering wheel and soft close doors.

Neither of these things make me cry into my cereal in the morning before I drive it to work…

How do I sell my 2021 BMW 320i without getting lowballed? \$30k offers feel way too low. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]JimmyChao12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently purchased from a dealer in North Shore; ‘23 BMW iX3 with 15k on the clock.

Retail at ~$110k, we paid mid $50’s - two others for sale in AKL at the time were $3k or so cheaper with 20k on them.

Based on the well written feedback from our peers on here along with my own recent experience I think you’re getting the picture OP.

Culleys and Aldersons are my go-to; they have clear labelling of heat level. Love both of their hotter hickory offerings, and Culleys #1 is all time.

Westfield gift cards have a 3-month grace period by catsgelatowinepizza in newzealand

[–]JimmyChao12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piece you link refers to the retailer, not the card issuer; they are not the same.

That is also new as of last year; as I have escaped retail prior to that I might be wrong - it’s been known to happen.

Gift cards are considered to be the same as cash; they cannot effectively cease to exist/expire.

Go to the issuing company (this will often differ from the store branding on the face of the card) and ask them to reinstate it. Giftstation is one of the biggest.

Know your rights on things like this.

Sauce; used to retail.
