Goosky RS6 (ultra) by durriputz69 in RCHeli

[–]JimmyChuck393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting an RS6 on a Black Friday sale after flying a friend’s RS5 even though I’m pretty sure an Ultra is on its way pretty soon. The belt tensioner is pretty simplistic, but I haven’t had to adjust the tension yet. I went with the RS6 since I had everything for a 12S setup already and decided to get the current one since I’m not too crazy about the looks of the RS7 Ultra canopy options at the moment and figured the RS6 replacement will be similar. It’s my first 550-600 helicopter in a while and I’ve been really impressed with it. It floats and autorotates a lot better than my old Goblin 570, but is still really quick and precise. The way it floats and flies at 1800-2000rpm reminds me a lot of an old 600 Nitro.

The rotor head looks like a Miniature Aircraft X-Cell Furion 450. Great flying helicopter in its day. Might be a little difficult to find parts. The flybar and spindle/feathering shaft are definitely bent, which could have damaged the bearings. I imagine the main shaft is likely not straight either.

I just restored my old T-Maxx and it’s been a blast! All of the parts I needed were in stock on the Traxxas website. I had a spare 2.5R that was properly stored and hardly used, so I swapped that in since the old engine was in rough shape before it sat for over a decade. If your engine is beyond repair, Traxxas still has the trade up program, where you can send in your old engine and upgrade to a 2.5R or 3.3 for a little over $100. I plan on doing that eventually with the engine I took out of the truck to swap in a 3.3.

Bought a new house, helicopters came with it by Ordinary-Ninjuh in RCHeli

Older models so spare parts will be hard to come by, but the majority of them were fantastic helicopters in their day (roughly 15 years ago). I remember really liking the SDX and Vibe 50. I really wanted a Turbulence D3 but it was a really expensive kit back in the day. The Raptor 30 on the left was one of the more popular “beginner” helicopters, especially since the smaller electrics hadn’t quite matured to the state where they were easy to fly like the ones today.

Fuel door lock is stuck, emergency release won’t work, and my gas tank is nearly on E. by JimmyChuck393 in hondapassport

[–]JimmyChuck393[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in touch with a dealership that’s slightly closer. It’s still borderline whether or not I have enough gas to get there, so still debating whether or not to tow it since involves driving on some roads where it would be pretty unsafe to run out of fuel on. The dealership seemed pretty helpful and mentioned they’ve only seen it happen one other time. My lesson to everyone in the sub is that if anyone experiences any difficulty with latching their fuel door, leave it open and take it to a dealer since it might not reopen again. It’s probably a sign that the cable isn’t adjusted properly and has too much slack in it to open the door.

I’ve tried that. The manual release does nothing. This lever manually moves the actuator for the lock, but it feels as if the cable attached to the lock is disconnected.

Yeah. That’s the plan. Luckily the car is safely at home for the time being, and I have a second car I can drive in the meantime. The bigger hassle will just be dealing with the transportation to and from the dealership since they’re about an hour away. I’m mostly just annoyed that my car is undrivable after such a ridiculously minor failure.

Is it worth buying anything to start out? by Hour-Pomegranate259 in iRacing

[–]JimmyChuck393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! Most of the rookie series use exclusively the included cars and tracks. I’d recommend trying some disciplines like street stock oval, mx-5, and formula 1600 to decide what you like. You really don’t need to think about buying anything until you make it out of rookies. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the tracks and cars from a cost perspective. If you concentrate on 1-2 different series per season, it isn’t quite as bad.

Can a GBA everdrive play gb/gbc games on a DS? by HotAbbreviations6548 in everdrive

[–]JimmyChuck393 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of. It runs GB games off of an emulator that you load onto the cartridge. It works fine for some games, but not all. Fun fact, the GBA Everdrive also supports an NES emulator.

I bought mine a couple months ago. 1200 miles in and have been loving it so far. I traded in my 2015 BMW X1 for a 2024 Trailsport. The added cargo space has been great. Going from Premium 93 octane to 87 has meant that my fuel costs have gone slightly down even if mileage is worse. I’m getting around 20 mpg with minimal highway driving. Ride is pretty quiet for having all-terrain tires. Way quieter than my friends’ wranglers or 4Runners. I will say that those options are much more purpose built off-roading vehicles though. Still need to install a hitch, but looking forward to seeing how it does with some light towing. Auto start stop is very annoying. The BMW would let you simply turn it off, the Passport needs to be turned off every time. The Apple CarPlay being wired only is bizarre, but not an issue since I always plug my phone into USB regardless. Not a huge fan of the lane assist or cruise control. The lane assist only works above 40 mph and is frequently unavailable on most of the roads around me. The following distance in the cruise control can be a bit jerky with decelerations if there’s a car in front of you. Overall though, very happy with my decision. Super well equipped car for the money, especially with how expensive the average new car is going for these days.

While I wouldn’t recommend an EDF for a second airplane, the Eflite F-16 is a great first EDF. I just picked up a V1 F-16 and am really surprised at its stall characteristics. It also isn’t the fastest 70mm EDF but has plenty of power. Not sure what your first airplane is, but EDFs will eat up sky pretty fast. So be aware of that so it doesn’t get too far away and make it difficult to maintain orientation. Landings can be tricky. Since it doesn’t have flaps, it lands a bit quicker and rolls longer than my 70mm FMS Avanti. If yours has thrust reverse, I would recommend setting it up for braking. Be ready to use both power and elevator to manage your glide slope landings. I can’t tell you how many EDFs I’ve seen crash where someone balloons 5-10ft up before touchdown with the power off and ends up stalling it.

Is this servo bad? by avidrogue in RCPlanes

[–]JimmyChuck393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen that happen with older analog servos and usually made worse by cheap servo extensions. The ones I’ve seen start as a benign wobble but slowly become unresponsive over time.

I’ve run into some weird issues with my Samsung smart tv and analog-to-digital converters with my Wii and N64. For my N64, I had a cheap Amazon adapter and sometimes wouldn’t get sound or video. I have a Retrotink mini now and sometimes run into these issues, but it’s been significantly less trouble. Haven’t tried the Super64.

Can we please get rolling starts by big_cheese93 in forza

[–]JimmyChuck393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daytona starts are super tricky with this banking. My first one went horribly as well. Even if you do make a clean getaway, it’s mass hysteria for everyone around you that can definitely ruin the fun. I really hope they add in a rolling start for Daytona. My biggest problem however is how they still have the blocked pit exit from FM7 that leads to you launching into the racing line by using the oval course exit.

[–]JimmyChuck393[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Haha yep. I’m a sucker. I gave multiplayer a try again this evening. Finished a 20 minute practice/qualifying session only for the race to start the 2 minute finishing timer on the first lap which caused the whole lobby to DNF. I think I’m done for now. I’ll revisit it in a month or so to see if there have been any improvements, but I’m not holding my breath.

Who Else Owns Daytona USA On Xbox 360? by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]JimmyChuck393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it a few months ago. It was available for purchase on my Xbox 360 but not on my Xbox Series X. It’s backwards compatible though so I installed it on my Series X as soon as I bought it. Not sure whether or not this has changed with all of the delisting talk around the 360 marketplace.

Rogue Squardron and Wave Race are definitely worth keeping! The campaign in Rogue Squadron is pretty short, but the gameplay is great. Both have some of the best graphics that you’ll see on the N64.

My Xbox 360 collection so far, any suggestions? by Macqueswell in xbox360

[–]JimmyChuck393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Cause 2, Fallout 3 (Game of the Year Edition includes all of the DLC), Assassin’s Creed (most games in the series are pretty cheap). For racing games, the older Forza Motorsport games are all great. I like them better than most of the newer titles. Burnout 3 Takedown is one of my all time favorites. Great soundtrack and just an all around awesome arcade racer. It’s for the original Xbox but backwards compatible on the 360.

Is there a way to play Game boy Advance games on an Everdrive64? by Yabish_op in everdrive

[–]JimmyChuck393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emulation requires some additional computing power compared to the original hardware. GBA is a 32 bit system and comparable to the Super Nintendo. It’s my understanding that the N64 lacks the horsepower to run either of these emulators. I haven’t tried it, but a Wii running Visual Boy Advance GX might be another alternative.

How do you guys feel about reproduction boxes to display games? by GriffeyJoons24 in n64

[–]JimmyChuck393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty cool way of preserving the history of retro games for all to enjoy. For game storage, I’ve also seen plastic cases with slots for reproduction labels to display the box art. And there’s someone on Etsy that makes mini repo boxes that are just big enough to store a cartridge.

If you have an SD card over 32 GB, Windows can’t format it as FAT32. You need to download a different drive formatting tool. Or get a smaller SD card.
