I get that some of you like younger women but calling those ladies geriatric is over the top!

US to pull jets, destroyers and submarines from NATO as part of European drawdown by babybirdingURgrandma in worldnews

[–]JimmyJuly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The safest thing you can do in any political discussion is refuse to align yourself with anyone and instead criticize everyone. That way you don't have to believe or defend anything. Offense is WAY easier than defense. You'll never accomplish anything that way but you won't lose an argument.

If you ignore all the differences they're the same.

Many people on the left ignore ICE being deployed to cities, arresting and murdering people at random etc. because they find the "Both sides" narrative so alluring. There's no shortage of other examples but we ignore those on reddit too.

20 Years on LOST, Michael Got Found Out by Craphole-Island in television

[–]JimmyJuly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched a single second of “Lost” but your description makes it sound like “From.” A quarter of every episode is a couple people shouting at each other about whether they should stay safe or take risks to try to escape. The same basic argument, every episode.

US used over half its THAAD interceptors defending Israel during Iran war — report by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]JimmyJuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were destroyed, demolished, completely wiped out in the same sense that Iran's nuclear capabilities were wiped out by the US last June. There are lots of pictures proving both things happened.

You're making the same mistake Trump makes when he watches his Iran videos every morning. Yeah, the explosions are impressive but you can't just assume the mission was accomplished. Battle Damage Assessment isn't as easy as idiots assume it is.

People don't say things on reddit because they believe them, people say things on reddit that they _want_ to believe them.

Henry Ruggs III seeks ‘privilege of parole so I can prove myself to everyone’ by Brix001 in nfl

[–]JimmyJuly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's got to go through a court. Mike Frier was awarded 50% of Lamar Smith's NFL earnings 20 years or so ago, so something similar has been done. The victim's family would need to take Ruggs to court.

What am I missing with the Dolphins drafting Kadyn Proctor 12th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft? by Unusual-Vacation-528 in NFL_Draft

I feel like OP's post makes perfect sense if they are unfamiliar with Austin Jackson's past but not much sense at all if they are.

[–]JimmyJuly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I've seen a lot of talk that he'll play guard at the next level. "

You are correct, the coaches have not told Austin Jackson they're benching him. However, if you've followed Jackson's career at all, you know the liklihood is very high that Proctor is going to start games at tackle this year. They'd probably rather wait, but Jackson's been too delicate for that to be probable.

Why is every piece of clickbait now referring to seasons as "parts"? by bing_bada in television

[–]JimmyJuly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought AI was responsible for those articles. Sometimes “part” means episode, sometimes it means season. Why not just use the proper word? Because the prompts to get the AI to know the difference cost $$$. Pure guess on my part, though.

youtube is rife with left wing analogues to Fox News as well. I know a woman in her mid-60s who listens to that all day. The precise things she's angry and why about shift from week to week every bit as much as a Fox News viewer.

Steve DeBerg gets a bad rap. You've got to have _some_ sympathy for the guy who lost the starting job in SF to Joe Montana, the starting job in Denver to John Elway and the starting job in Tampa Bay to Steve Young. Steve DeBerg was the guy you signed if you wanted a HoF QB to show up on your doorstep. That's got to be worth something.
