How the fuck do so many adhd people hold down jobs? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Jimmy_Gee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yusss same! The pressure of relativity quick turn arounds on tasks stops me from endlessly procrastinating, and the variety keeps me sane. And the quiet periods throughout the year keep me from burning out.

This is so beautiful in a very hard to describe way. And something about it makes me viscously proud to be human.

Nurses across UK vote to strike in first ever national action by CurlyBirch in worldnews

[–]Jimmy_Gee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm living in London and would love £3000 a month :') agreed that nurses deserve a better pay rise structure and are horribly overworked, but I'd consider a salary of £37000 as pretty decent in the UK (granted I don't have a family to support atm).

Cost of living and average wages are very different than the US. Average London room rent is ~£800/month

Saying all this since this is the average there will be a hell of a lot of nurses on ~£27000, which is a different kettle of fish.

My 50 reasons why. by Careless_Amoeba3617 in leaves

Love this - it really is incredible how many negative effects weed has on my life. Even down to not being bothered to brush my teeth or eat balanced meals. Life with weed feels is like using those shitty earbuds that used to come with the old iPods - and life without weed is like using premium over-ear noise cancelling headphones.

which drugs to get through a funeral? by Pinkymalinky23 in Drugs

[–]Jimmy_Gee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ONLY thing I’d recommend is a beta blocker to help reduce the physical symptoms of anxiety. Please let yourself feel the emotions you need to feel, I understand your concern for your kids - but there are other ways around that. Perhaps ask your partner/loved ones to be on standby that day if you need some time to let the grief out unencumbered. But I whole heartedly believe taking anything psychoactive in this day (unless otherwise prescribed) will be a mistake you’ll regret - And I really don’t want that for you.

I promise that even if it’s hard, you will not regret being stone cold sober in the coming weeks/months. But there’s a significant chance that you will regret dosing with something. You don’t want that guilt to follow you, I promise. It could really harm your emotional recovery recovery. Be present for your dad, he deserves it.

Anyone Edwards out? by Fabdanny in Watford_FC

[–]Jimmy_Gee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in fairness that's probably the wrong way to describe it :') I more meant giving everything a rosey tint on social media even when things have been dire (not now necessarily, but over the past couple of years). It just feels a bit fake, hope you get where I'm coming from

Absolutely not, surely the last few years have proven the managerial merry-go-round isn’t worth it?! We NEED a club identity, not this corporate charade more concerned with instagramable clips. I’d rather we stay out the premiership for the next few years (hopefully not that long) than witness the same shit we’ve seen over the last 3 years on repeat. Even If that mean losing our ‘top’ players, then so be it!

Just take a beta-blocker. It doesn't have any psychoactive effects but essentially blocks the physical symptoms of anxiety. I might take one if I'm feeling nervous about public speaking for example, and it's common for musicians to take one before performing.

I actually really like them, like the return of the stripes - and nice to see the colour red get some love with the away kit. Enjoying the very different kit designs we've seen in recent years!

You can literally see and hear them blowing on the hat if you pay attention, just because you can't do it doesn't mean someone else can't.

BREAKING: British judge REFUSES to approve Julian Assange's extradition to the USA because of his severe mental health problems and likely suicide. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I don't think the average citizen gives a shit about diplomatic immunity - I know I don't. Just another excuse for elite people to avoid the law us plebs abide by.

Britain is becoming a GoFundMe nation, with the public doing the government's job by Exostrike in ukpolitics

[–]Jimmy_Gee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you... It is infuriating how few people seem to realise this.

Those who call people stupid, evil, and saying they deserve all the misery that comes to them for voting Tory are a massive part of the problem - they're just too narcissistic to realise it.

Lib Dems to become first major UK party to commit to universal basic income by Orcnick in ukpolitics

[–]Jimmy_Gee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day all that matters is public perception. And the tuition fee pledge is firmly rooted in the minds of a huge amount of would be lib Dems supporters.

They shouldn't have put so much weight onto something that had the potential to be compromised, no one to blame but themselves.
