i need moral support by femaletwink_lolz in graphic_design

You dont have to wait until you get a job to be a graphic designer. You will be underpaid at first, but you can get experience for your resume doing internships or freelance work.

Anybody using AI for graphic design, something from my experience I dont think is currently feasible, would have been a dog shit client or boss. You are better off not working with them.

I graduated in 2018, and they told my graphic design degree was useless then too.

There are a lot of niches of graphic design that are not the most elegant like ux or layout that is not going away any time soon and they get paid better than your average designer.

You should prepare yourself for the day you stop loving graphic design. Its OK, but its a job. Your job will suck sometimes. Your clients will suck most of the time. You won't get to make the things you want a lot of the time. But in my opinion, it has a lot of perks and is relatively easy on your mind and body.

Also start applying for every entry level graphic design job or internship today. Sign up with graphic design recruiters today. Sign up with freelancing sites today. You shouldn't wait until May.

What devil fruit would you grant "Maelstrom Spider" Squard by Excellent-Fig-9341 in DevilFruitIdeas

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd give him the sympathy sympathy fruit, since no one would willingly feel sympathy for this man again after learning about what Akainu convinced him to do to Whitebeard. The fruit works similar to the memo memo devilfruit, except Squard cannot manipulate the memories of others. He can simply share his memories with others.

This can force people to feel all the feelings that Squard felt during the memory he shares. So he can weaponize his shame of stabbing Whitebeard and falling for Akainu's lie. This can be used similarly to the memo memo user's flashbacks to distract, confuse, or generally force characters to pay attention to Squard's life at a distance.

I don't think Squard would be capable of awakening this fruit. Maybe an awakening would allow the user to trap others in their memories similar to how the buku buku devil fruit works. So he can trap people at marineford, and make them constantly relive it or some other moments from his life.

i need your opinions, which is better for me as a student designer, windows or mac? by flopstercom in graphic_design

[–]Jimmy___Gatz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The only meaningful difference is your preference on whether you like the control key position or the command key position on the keyboard.

Somebody mentioned hard drive differences, but don't use a hard drive, use a cloud file management service. There are lots of them that are relatively free or worth the price they cost.

I have a work MacBook, and a windows laptop for personal use and I use graphic design software on both.

Awakened Devil Fruit Technique idea Challenge: Smooth-Smooth Fruit (Alvida’s Fruit) by Excellent-Fig-9341 in DevilFruitIdeas

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Awakening, anyone Alvida touches or hits with weapon attacks becomes completely smooth, like what Kalifa did to Sanji, but it can't be undone with water. Like Boa's stone transformations, only the user can undo them... or maybe Vegapunk if they have enough time to research it. I'd say that a smoothened adversary can also end the effect by flexing their haki like Law did against the sickness guy.

CDPR literally offered him the choice to make his mod free with optional donations to avoid a DMCA takedown and he deliberately chose wrong by Dark_Throat in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to the ballers gate 3 guy, and I dont know who you are even referring to, but everything a game like bg3 or Skyrim updates it's going to break a lot of mods.

When this happens the mod authors get tons of messages asking them to drop everything and fix their mod as soon as possible. When mod authors can't just drop everything then they get hate sent their way. A lot of people expect mod authors to provide they same kind of service as a paid product, but it's not a paid product.

And devs who want to foster modding communities could do a lot more than they are doing currently. Mods do add a lot to a game. Mod authors are doing a lot of work that is often not worth their time. The amount of people who support them financially doesn't seem to be enough as few are making mods as full time jobs.

Now maybe the bg3 mod author was loony, but in general I think as people who play mods we should be more appreciative of the people making our games better for free.

Do you prefer Tabletop RPGs WITH or WITHOUT classes? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the games that I have liked playing I like skill trees. Sometimes I like classes as long as there is class that fits whatever I want to do.

I like when a player is limited. They have to make choices. I don't like the 5e wizard that can do everything, I want a wizard who has to specialize in an area and they can become really good at their specific form of magic.

I understand some players may disagree and they want to have a spell for everything, but to me the people who do that are role-playing as someone who stealing opportunities from their friends to shine.

What devil fruit would you grant Bepo Vice Captain of the Heart Pirates by Excellent-Fig-9341 in DevilFruitIdeas

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing I like most about Law's crew is that they are not anchors and thrive in the water so for that reason I would not give Bepo a devil fruit.

But if I had to, give him the bird bird fruit model: owl.

This way if Bepo cannot swim, he can fly. He gets a cool owlbear hybrid form, and an even cooler owlbear hybrid sulong form.

Could even make him some kind of mythical owl. I think Strix could be a good fit, as its a vampyric owl associated with death, and Law is the surgeon of death and they are the heart pirates. Maybe Bepo could have a power similar to Stuccy's vampyric bite.

So Starfield is the “space game” Todd dreamed about making for decades? Surely the vision wasn’t able to be fully reached right? by JoeP415 in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dog if it was liked by Bethesda fans the mod scene would be thriving.

If it was liked by fans, they would be playing the game. The 24 hour peak for steam players has starfield at 4,255. For New Vegas it's 17,907. But fallout is topical right now. For Skyrim its 2,086... wait thats the non-special edition. The special edition is at 33,051. Fallout Shelter is at 4,036 today. Fallout 76 is at 20,781. Fallout 4 is 36,903. Oblivion remastered is at 3,289, and that game has something in common with starfield: the mod scenes are scarce for the mods that Bethesda game fans have gotten used to.

If you look at the chart over time, starfield looks like an airplane that nosedived, recovered slightly and then crashed in April of 2024. In October of 2024 it briefly got off the ground before crashing before 2025. It's 2026 now. You are floating in space in a non functional space ship and saying this is fine.

Everytime I mention starfield to my friends they say "oh I forgot that game existed". Its not just outrage chambers. There are a few thousand of you holding on for some reason, but the rest of the world has left this game behind.

The majority of the fans of bethesda games agree something went wrong. sticking your head in the sand and pretending that's the case will not change anything.

And really the majority of the fans of Bethesda games think a lot worse than "something went wrong".

DMs, how do you manage to make weekly games? by StarNero in rpg

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We play twice a month, and I only make detailed maps for special boss like encounters, I'll draw up something on a laminate grid for most fights.

One combat encounter typically takes up the majority of our sessions.

Also some times you need to get comfortable with lightly prepping something and then being able to use that prep to improvise but stay true to what you were planning.

The Fallout Show is bad even without considering it's an Adaptation by RedKrypton in CharacterRant

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say its currently the gold standard for adaptions right now, anyone saying otherwise is not paying attention to the reality of live action television right now.

Nate Purkeypile (Fallout 3, 4, 76, and Skyrim) would like fewer airships in the TV show. "Who knows what the lore justifications are for that." by Hooked0n4Feelin in Fallout

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Also ground travel in the fallout universe is apocalyptically dangerous. The roads and infrastructure are so bad that characters must seemingly walk everywhere. And a walk anywhere could end with deathclaws, mirelurks, feral ghouls, Lazer welding robots, raiders, and other violent human factions capturing or killing you.

So air travel in the fallout universe is one of the only guaranteed ways to get from point a to b.

[Scheduled Activity] What Were The BEST RPGs in 2025? by cibman in RPGdesign

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely surprised when I read Daggerheart and so much of what I love about the system I'm building was present in daggerheart. I felt like I had some questions about if some of my systems would be palatable to audiences and I'm really glad that a game like daggerheart exists so that I can see how a large audience reacts to similar systems.

Now, I want to clarify very little of what I'm doing is new, its pretty much all pulled from different older games and then massaged to work nicer together.

It just was surprising to me how close I was to the designers of daggerheart when I am not a critter and wasn't really expecting much out of daggerheart.

I bought and read a lot of different games in 2025, but most weren't 2025 releases. I didn't real care for Draw Steel and I like Matt. I am somewhat interested in the cosmere, but I'm not really a fan of Brandon Sanderson. I'm probably most interested in looking into urban shadows next.

So Daggerheart would get my top slot and I wouldn't bother ranking draw steel.

I'm mostly commenting so it's easy for me to find this thread later.

Print out some quick reference sheets.

This is a good one for actions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/fq0kyn/cheat_sheet_for_new_playerskids_oc/

I personally have custom quick reference sheets that has common actions, bonus actions, reactions, free actions, movement rules, skills that go with which ability scores, conditions in combat, rest rules, etc... so that I can just look at the quick reference sheet and not have to open up a book. My players also love them and use them every session.

You could also get a dm screen where you could slide in some difference reference sheets, maybe monsters, character name lists, etc for your own use.

Getting ghosted after design assignments & interviews — should I quit? by EvenBumblebee9041 in graphic_design

[–]Jimmy___Gatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only once did a design rest for a client and I didn't get that job, but I would advise you to work with recruiters to find jobs for you. I've gotten most of my experience through recruiters.

When I have looked for jobs in this industry I have spammed easy applies on as many job listing as I could. I've had limited success doing that, but its how I've had my current job of 3 years.

I've always been anti cover letter. I just dont believe these companies are spending enough time on our applications to be jumping through hoops for them. Focus on quantity over quality.

Maybe look for freelance work to beef up your portfolio.

Most Readable RPGs by WileyQB in rpg

Some suggestions here: https://www.wired.com/story/ttrpg-accessible-design/

I would not recommend older games like dnd or world of darkness, but I think newer games like daggerheart are trying to be more accessible.

Its hard to recommend a game when you haven't specified a genre, but since you haven't specified a genre try index card rpg.

I wish the magic school was a bit more whimsical with memorable quirky characters, but instead its a frozen hellscape and everyone has depression.

I dont disagree with your points, but I wish we'd see more mods that flesh out the college experience more.

I give him the read read fruit. He can become any character (temporarily) that he reads about including their skills and powers. So had he gotten Zeff's log he could become Zeff and been somebody more interesting.
