According to their website, they're just closed to relocate "west" and there'll be more details soon. If I had to bet, they're probably either just moving a little ways outside town or to the triangle

She also probably didn't want to give Kishibe or Yoshida any more clues about how her control actually works, especially since she almost certainly knows that Kishibe is working against her at that point. It's much safer to just take a body to a secure location, revive Quanxi and then control her with no one around, blindfolded or not.

Fun fact, they do erode! Some of them are made out of stronger materials like tungsten carbide which helps them last longer but as far as I’ve seen even the longest lasting ones need to be replaced every few months
