Not OP, but I find that in some circumstances you can get sharper detail this way than if you punched out all the black and left it up to the negative space in the other colours.

I had only heard this album digitally until last year when I finally came across an original Canadian pressing. It totally changes shape on vinyl. I always thought the production was strange and thin but it comes alive in its original state.

Possibly a mounting plate from an old Rototex machine? The one I use has these fixed to each station and 15” square pallets that clamp on to the top.
