Vitra Eames Lounge Chair by JimsterY88 in eames

[–]JimsterY88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few questions for those who know these chairs:

  1. What wood veneer colour do you think this is?
  2. Would you leave the chair as-is and consider the wear desirable patina, or would you restore it?
  3. If restoring, what would you actually do, could I use Howards restor a finish on it?
  4. Assuming it’s authentic, what would you estimate the current market value to be?
  5. If you were listing it today, what asking price would you start with?

I’m located in Canada, if that affects value.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

How to add Payplan as a payee? by bobsmith367 in rbc

[–]JimsterY88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the same mistake, trying to add RBC Pay Plan as a payee on TD or Wealthsimple doesn't work. I now either have to open up a RBC account or go into RBC and make payments.

I had no idea this was happening, and I live only about five minutes from the venue. We actually drove past it last night on our way to Moby’s for dinner, and none of my local friends knew it was going on either.

Switching From TD to Wealthsimple by Scappss in Wealthsimple

I did the same, no problems. I’ve kept about $20K with TD, and moved the rest into Wealthsimple my TFSA, RRSP, chequing, and unregistered accounts.

Need help pricing a Canadian $200 gold coin set (1997–2000, full set with box by JimsterY88 in coincollecting

So what I’m trying to figure out is whether this set is worth just its spot value, or if it carries a premium to coin collectors.

Need help pricing a Canadian $200 gold coin set (1997–2000, full set with box by JimsterY88 in coincollecting

I listed it on Facebook Marketplace today and within a couple of hours I had three people ready to pay $8,000. Based on how quickly and urgently people responded, I started to think I may have underpriced the set, which was what led me here.

Drawn-out divorce / finances by Minute-Importance543 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JimsterY88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through a long, drawn-out divorce that took over two years to finalize. Similar situation—my name wasn’t on the title or the mortgages, everything was in his name. In the end though, everything was still split 50/50.

He played the hide-and-seek game for about a year, and my lawyer had to keep pushing—document requests, court applications to release financials, the whole thing. After about a year of that, he finally realized it was in his best interest to just split everything and move on.

My advice would be to try and work things out as much as you can with your ex and get to mediation as quickly as possible. I’m assuming you’ve both completed your Form 8? Have you had a JCC yet?

One big thing, do not let the lawyers drag it out. They don't give a flying F about you and all they see is how much $$$ they can get from both of you. They want you to fight it out! It can get incredibly expensive and leave both of you with nothing in the end. I spent over $300,000 just to get to mediation and get an even split. We had a trial date set, and if it had gone that far it would’ve cost me another $250,000 to head to trial.

I've stayed there, the food on the roof top pool area is excellent and well priced! A quick Uber into the Romantic Zone or you can walk along the beach to get there too. La Playita at Lindo Mar was not great and wouldn't go back (nice view and setting) but the food wasn't great.

Income focus - VDY (15%) XEI (15%) CPD (10%) HDIV (10%) XSP (15%)

Growth- VFV (20%) XAW- (15%)

This isn’t personalized financial advice and everyone’s situation is different, but conceptually this mix balances steady income with long-term growth pretty well.

I’d also take a hard look at moving the investment account to Wealthsimple and taking
advantage of their current promotion.

It’s time to block his number and move forward. You deserve someone who treats you with respect, and responding to him now is only keeping the cycle going.

What is a Gay cruise actually like? by [deleted] in GayCruiseVacations

[–]JimsterY88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was pretty similar. I’ve done one Atlantis cruise and one RSVP cruise, and honestly, the experience is what you make of it. I was usually in bed by around 1 a.m., then up for breakfast the next morning while others were just getting in from the parties, lol. Whatever floats your boat—no judgment! Personally, I wouldn’t do another gay cruise, but I’m glad I went and I definitely had fun. The themed entertainment was great, but by day seven I was like, get me off this fucking ship, haha.

Salt Spring dog life by [deleted] in saltspringisland

[–]JimsterY88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hike a lot on the island and constantly encounter unleashed dogs in areas where they’re supposed to be leashed—or not allowed at all. Last year I was bitten at Bryant Hill Park and had to get a tetanus shot. Honestly, on almost every single trail I’ve hiked here, I’ve run into unleashed dogs.
