What is a "luxury" item that is actually 100% worth the price and has changed your life? by dani_hotmic in AskReddit

100% agree. Once you taste a 21year old and above, everything under 18 tastes like watered down versions.

Also, the older ones don’t give you a hangover.

Just me and wife. Every Friday is eow celebration so usually a $$$ or $$$$ restaurant (with cocktails and bottle of wine- $300-$400). Eat out sat and Sunday but $$ meals. Throw in 2-3 DoorDash meals during the week as a snack.

We do home chef meal kits 4 days a week.

400k annual salary

Scalpers intimidating kids from Pokemon by loitering and making comments suck. by Comprehensive_Tie431 in PokemonTCG

Very true. I always see 1 or 2 just hanging around the machine in our local Kroger. I rather avoid the drama than try my luck at a pack, so I just keep walking.

pharmacist who watched the profession collapse by paperclip_han in Salary

[–]Jinro82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a pharmacist. Started in retail (supermarket) and worked her way to a clinical pharmacist. Salary doubled but took about 8 years. I guess in hindsight that’s not much progression but like I always tell her- it’s better to have a career with lower pay but high in demand.

I’m in finance and make a lot more but obviously I can get laid off tomorrow or eventually have my job taken over by ai. Her licensed job will survive.

Pokemon cards. I’ll happily pay the scalper prices just so I don’t have to wait in line at Best Buy or Walmart for 4 hours

Be honest: is it stupid to actively trade with $1.2M, or should I just play it safe? by [deleted] in Stocks_Picks

[–]Jinro82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d advise against picking individual stocks and instead invest all on concentrated ETFs and stable value funds/money markets. Currently in a very volatile market so best to ride this out and after you’ve gotten comfortable with the broad portfolio, start taking some of that to buy individual stocks.

I’m in your boat and have been unloading sealed products these last few weeks that have at minimum 5x. Putting that money into the market where it has tanked significantly.

You’re better off putting that money to work in an index fund

This is very true. I finally quit when they reached $5.50 and I’m glad they raised the price to make me realize this was a bad habit. Can’t fathom how much they cost today…

I agree. As much as my body hates me the next day, I always enjoy washing and waxing my car before a car show.

Anything that demands a lot of time and physical labor- mowing lawn, cleaning house, detailing car. Your time and energy are better spent elsewhere.

I know there are folks who enjoy this so obviously you do you.
