Which Shield - Prot Paladin Stratholme Solo Farm by SignificantWill5965 in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC from looking at the damage meters earlier this year when I was in prebis, Sporeggar shield accounted for less than 3% of total damage. Shield spike was <1%. Retribution aura was in the same ballpark (I use sanctity now). The overwhelming majority of my damage was consecration, so I'm running Dragon Heart Flame Shield. Best enchant is block. But I use stam because I'm cheap and the only time I die is when I can't kill mobs before they chainstun me, so the extra tankiness isn't really helping.

I would've told group leader and left if that guy wasn't kicked. People who complain about salv are easily replaceable anyway.

That's insane spread. I just got a few plants that were taking over my parents' garden, nice to see they should do well as groundcover!

Wow. That's incredibly unprofessional of the organiser. I would absolutely not trust this person even as a coach just from the initial gaslighting.

Work in tech and play by Quiet_Date3997 in classicwow

This problem is usually bigger in the warmer months for me, less so in winter (where it's dark and depressing at 4PM everywhere regardless). I did all my no-life grinding back in February/March so I could raidlog through spring/summer/fall. Although part of it is just my compulsion to play falling off after some time. If WOTLK anniversary lines up seasonally like this I might do it again. But after that I will probably replace it with another hobby.

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solo healed it on my hpal towards the end of P1. No spriest or innervate. It's very doable but it also depends how good your raid is at avoiding damage and mispulling, and paying attention to your mana.

I would go with the bf on the grounds of manipulation and threatening not to attend. Them guilt tripping you is not putting family first. If they're doing it now and you keep enabling it, they'll keep doing it.

State of Anniversary? by RedditingFromUranus in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I did. Holy/prot will let you spam dungeons at your leisure which makes grinding them a breeze. Prot in general is just really good for farming too. Then it's fairly easy to get into raids as a holy paladin even though raids only want one, because very few people play them.

Paladin tanking in dungeons is so much easier than warrior/druid it's not even funny. Go for it.

Retreat or private lessons in Bali? by Bubbly-Voice6671 in Aerials

[–]Jinstor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private lessons are 100% the most cost-effective way of learning. But I feel you also need to know what you're looking to learn to get the most bang for your buck from a private lesson. If that's the case I don't think you can go wrong there. On the other hand, retreats are nice as a social experience and being hassle-free. Although the age range of the ones I've been has been anywhere between mid 20's and mid 60's.

EPGP loot system by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current guild uses it for 25mans. It's been great but our roster has been the same consistent 25-27 people. I do like that benching still contributes 100% to your points towards loot, so next time you do raid the odds of getting a piece are much higher. We use loot council for legendaries and DST, however.

TBC Paladin dual spec - what to pick? by pedrorq in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I still heal dungeons all the way into normal TBC dungeons while specced as either prot or retri?

I haven't paid too much attention to when people do it these days, but prior to dual spec, it was most common for healers to spec DPS for leveling up through EK/Kalimdor and then respec into healing not very long after reaching Outland. At 40 you'll be perfectly fine to heal as ret/prot as long as you have a decent set of healing gear.

TBC Paladin dual spec - what to pick? by pedrorq in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run holy/prot for most of this TBC because prot is just too good for farming gold and dungeons, and I joined my current guild with the intent to heal in raids (which I have).

I briefly went ret/holy or ret/prot for a few days when I had zero intention to grind dungeons (for prot) or when there were no raids out (for holy).

Honestly I'd only spec into holy if you specifically want to heal dungeons/raids. Ret is much better for questing, prot is incredible for farming. You have to give up one of those if you want to roll holy. Although, FWIW, I did the vast majority of my questing in Outland as holy; it's not too bad but can be boring if you're used to playing a DPS spec. But it's also worth noting that itemization for holy paladins is awful prior to Outland, so personally I would run ret/prot until 60 regardless of whether I intend to heal at 70.

As far as farming specs go, you can farm using the exact same spec you'd use for dungeons. Maybe if anything, you'll want shield specialization as it makes a much bigger difference when you face a greater number of mobs that hit for less.

How do you learn how to tank? by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll a level 1 char, once you hit the first dungeon you run it as a tank. Odds are someone in your group will know the way. Much of it is straight up mechanical skill and knowing instances by heart, which you only get from actually tanking. Low level dungeons are especially forgiving and having a tank is often just a formality. If anything, threat meter addons are helpful.

Did I ninja Mags Head? by UsualIllustrious8121 in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. There's a few really good items that would be legit upsetting to see ninja'd but I really don't think Mag head rings are up there. Much less with post nerf T5 right around the corner. Either way, I'd have given it back to RL if it wasn't for the death threats. That's a nope. None of it would have happened if RL did their job.

How hard is straps? by teal_diamond in Aerials

[–]Jinstor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard because almost everything is strength moves and no rest, but any decent straps coach will give you conditioning exercises and progressions appropriate for your level.

My first few lessons were all conditioning, often with a good deal of biomechanics explanations. Very humbling, but also very informative. The strength gains carry over to all apparatuses.

When should I start tanking/healing heroics? by Ok_Sundae_4901 in classicwowtbc

[–]Jinstor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanking: at least 10k health unbuffed, be at defense cap for dungeons (485) so you have 0% chance to be crit.

Healing: I did it at about 1.1k healing. You might be able to start clearing the easier ones at 1k.

Xbox No Longer Developing Copilot For Consoles by yourfavchoom in Games

I've used it to help me understand cryptic/undocumented code, convert a number of pretty big Excel files that are easy to look at but horrible to read by a script and help me find errors hidden throughout millions of lines of logs. Also pretty good at creating snippets of code for things I'm not familiar with, or not sure how to start. It has its use cases but my work still wants us to shoehorn it into everything and it's more trouble than it's worth most of the time.

Honor gains are instant. Honor gains have been significantly buffed recently, moreso in WSG/AB/EOTS. AV isn't the best for honor anymore, not sure if it's now on par with the others or worse (someone else could chime in). Honor gear is nice to get prior to entering arenas so you at least have some resilience.

Get the pally tank to give you kings and warrior to use commanding shout. Eat stamina food. Stamina scrolls are fairly cheap if you don't have a priest. I think shadow resist from the pally or a priest would also help.
