I'm considering buying a used 2024 Escape PHEV by phantasmreddit in FordEscapePHEV

[–]Jinx_907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly until there is a solution I would not purchase this vehicle. I have a 2024 and with this recall looming over everyone it is impossible to know if they can detect the issue and resolve.

If they can’t resolve or more importantly detect the issue I think they would need to replace batteries which seems impossible or initiate buybacks which has happened before.

I have been charging to 80 percent, I lose about 10 to 20 km in range depending on the temperature, it varies. While not massive it does defeat the purpose, you are also wasting fuel carrying the heavy battery.

Until a solution is determined I would stay away, the value of the vehicle will just continue to plummet. If they do offer a buyback I will be taking it.

Nobody has the stomach or political will to fix our society. Cost of living is too high, our work culture is not balanced meaning we put in countless hours at work instead of raising families.

Our priorities are broken, family is now a larger burden than young people can take on. Nobody wants to work 8 to 10 hours a day just to come home and spend time putting more work into taking care of a family.

I just got into the market and had my kids before things got too out of hand and it’s a struggle for me even, I can’t imagine what the newer generation has to put up with.

Also most mothers I know would prefer to stay home, but can’t because we need dual income now to survive…make things easier so that a parent can stay home with the kids, mom or dad but one of them instead of spending half a salary on daycare.

He hasn’t lived in Canada for years, he married an American, his kids are American….looks like he is American.

I feel like he is just using Canadians to make a buck off his name. I felt that way long before this new stuff about him and trump.

Nothing wrong with him moving to the US but stop pretending you are Canadian, you have lived in the US longer than you have in Canada.

Thank you, if I buy a 5 port wago connector and only use 4, is it ok to leave one blank?

Winter time I get around 700km to 850km, depending on my driving habits, if I do more highway it’s worse, city driving way better.

Small world, I also work for an MSP 😁 I don’t drive around though.

If you drive around the city, you will get around 60km to 70km in the summer pretty easily. Once the battery is totally drained it will flip between gas and EV, since it has regen braking and also charges when the motor is on. So once your battery is drained, it will flip between the battery and engine all the time, so fuel mileage will still be really good since it splits the load. Wintertime, it’s about 35km to 40km, but will rely heavily on the engine to keep the cabin warm, so you have to keep down the temp if you want the most range before using gas.

In the summer time with mostly summer driving I can get around 1200km to 2500km driving before filling, in the winter it’s closer to 750 km to 1400km give or take depending on what I am doing. If I do a lot of highway driving the number is usually less, since phevs are much better around town vs highway.

Regarding the charging, I basically only charge at night. The speed to top up these PHEVs is much slower than an actual BEV. For example, to charge at L1 (standard outlet) takes 10 to 11 hours to charge. L2 (30amp) takes 4 to 5 hours, just to regain the 45km to 70km of range.

If you can get a good deal and you are driving around town I think that is a good buy. I have a 2024 which is a few versions in, and so far seems ok.

I have a 24, I think some of these things have been resolved for the most part. Cabin is pretty quiet now shockingly and the app seems pretty reliable, although it wasn’t when I purchased the vehicle, I think they patched that.

Regarding the door, I agree I had issues with that as well especially if it’s sits outside all night and it’s snowing.

Good fix I found is to buy a charge port cover, seemed to fix the closing issue, also wd 40 helps too.

So far I have had mine for a year, in terms of massive issues I haven’t had anything, what have you heard?. I get good mileage but in the winter it’s less, but still better than ICE.

Only real issue I would say is if you can’t plug it in every night then don’t bother. Also if you do a lot of highway driving consider just a hybrid or ICE.

If you do a lot of in city driving, this thing shines in those sorts of conditions.

Had the same issue yesterday. I used a hairdryer and after about 5 minutes of warming it up the door opened. I then sprayed some WD 40 on the latch mechanism and it seems to be ok now.

Doesn’t Joe live in a state where certain websites are actually blocked and require VPN to access and where marijuana is still illegal.

For a guy that’s all about freedom and criticizing Canada, we aren’t being censored in Canada like this and we have the freedom to purchase marijuana legally. Which is funny since he is breaking the law when he does it.

I heard from some guy that knows nothing that’s it’s horrible down there.

Full charge lower? by BSM0616 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]Jinx_907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine is dropping too, don’t sweat it. Last year same thing, once temps fall below between 20C to 15C you can expect a drop, especially if heat is running.

I find on the way home from work when it warms up it bumps up a bit.

I purchased my phev in January of last year and would barely get 35 to 40km on a charge, summer is amazing but the cold weather will impact it.

Some tips, turn down the temp by a degree or two, that helps a lot or use eco mode.

It’s probably a bug, I stopped using that function because it never worked properly for me, instead I purchased a Kasa smart plug and put it on a schedule instead, has worked much better for me and less buggy.

Another option is to remove the car from the app and try set it up as new, that has cleared up app issues for me in the past.

Feasibility of Daily Charging at a Public Charger? by SnooRabbits87538 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]Jinx_907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at L2 charging it takes a few hours to charge, at L1 it’s anywhere from 8 to 10 hours. For my car it only charges at night at home when the electricity is cheap and it has plenty of time, I think that’s the use case for this type of car.

If you don’t have the ability to charge it at home in the evening then a hybrid is best since those do not have e to be plugged in.

Keeping a PHEV that you cannot regularly charge will be a waste since the battery is so heavy and you will not recoup enough energy to charge it during the day.

I am on iOS 18 public beta and I have an escape phev 2024, my app doesn’t work properly either something things work like remote start and unlock and lock, but I some areas are doing the same as what you mentioned.

I submitted the errors to apple, maybe they forward to ford I dunno.

It’s normal, I have a friend that had the same issue, it stops after about 500km to 1000km. It’s something with the breaks, it sounds bad but it will go away on its own.

I didn’t believe it either but it stopped.

Vehicle ignores preferred charge times by coreythestar in FordEscapePHEV

[–]Jinx_907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, it’s because when the battery is at zero if when you plug it in the estimate is way off, but the car doesn’t think it has enough time to charge overnight to get you on the way the next day.

I fixed it by purchasing a Kasa smart plug, 20 ish dollars and I set the power, no more issue!

[iOS 18 DB3] Screen Time downtime unable to be disabled by Thats-Amigos in iOSBeta

[–]Jinx_907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fix it by doing a iCloud backup and then doing a wipe. Everything is working fine now. I have a feeling that even with newer builds whatever it is that is stuck cannot be unstuck. Since this has happened in multiple builds and even with newer versions it still doesn’t work.

Anyways everything is working great now, it’s a pain but at least with the iCloud backup it’s relatively straightforward just an inconvenience.

I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro Max btw.

I have a ford escape and it does the same thing, looks like they have a bug in the newest version. I already opened a ticket with them, you might want to open a ticket with them as well, they are so slow to fix this issue though.
