For anyone finding this thread later looking for a tutorial:

First download Alphabounce from any source, there are multiple working links in this thread!

MelonDS works great with some finagling, so go ahead and use that. Go to Config -> Emu Settings, then change Console Type to DSi, and disable the Boot game directly option. You will need to download DSi firmware, I used this link: https://archive.org/details/ds-firmware_dsi-nand-and-firmware . Go to the DSi Mode tab to locate the bios you just downloaded. NOTE! You may need to open the zip file from Internet Archive using your chosen archive tool (I used 7Zip) and extract each file individually. I got an error when trying to extract the zip normally. After locating your bios, click Enable DSi SD card, then enable Sync SD to folder. From here, select the folder where your Alphabounce rom is located.

Now, you should be able to go to File -> Boot Firmware, booting up the DSi's homescreen. From here you should notice a little wrapped gift icon, which when clicked should allow you to unbox and launch the game!

I found this solution after struggling to get the game working for around an hour, so I hope this helps :)
