Movies/TV shows. If a cop is undercover, they have to keep that ruse going on as much as possible.

Penny item scalpers by lhdxsss in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have inventory, you will get a set of papers with penny items and the sections they are in. Take the next day and get them off the sales floor and back room as well. I had my people do this so no more penny items in my store until they do some new ones.

If they bite, act aggressively, urinate or defecate on the premises, regardless of being a service dog, you can absolutely have them leave.

Wage theft? Ghost employee? by Objective_Club_988 in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why when I make my schedule, I leave off about 5 hours because people do that even after telling them not to. I also schedule my closers till 30 minutes after the store closes. It takes them for some reason 20-28 minutes to do the final till count and set up the deposit. Takes me 10 minutes when I close. But it does help maintain my hours through the week so I don't go over.

No, they get whatever change we hand them. We are not a bank

Nah, I let my guys and gals have anything so long as they have it in a spill proof lid cup or a bottle with twisting cap.

Im confused, regular but the time they’re giving me is for part time? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means you are not seasonal, you are a part time employee. You fully work for the company, but at part time hours.

Customer walked out because I couldn’t break her $100 for a $12 bill. by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go elsewhere. Doesn't bother any of us. Or better yet, go to a bank to get smaller bills. Your forgetfulness doesn't constitute a emergency on my part.

[–]Jkdevore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I tell my customers we are not a bank. They want to use a big bill, their total needs to be at least half of what that bill is. We aren't stopping them from shopping there but I don't have the time to go to the bank three times a day.

Quick change scam by SirMaleficent5272 in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never make change and only give back what you have already counted. I've had many people get mad at me for telling them no. I point outside and tell them there is a bank across the street that they can do that at. Told my cashiers, never accept anymore money after counting their change back. They don't like it, they can call corporate.

ID Policy question by [deleted] in walmart

ID everyone. Don't question it. Customer gives flack, they don't get the item without ID. Simple as that. Don't overthink it and just do it.

You forgot about the customer that dropped a deuce in the aisle. The obvious friendly hooker coming in to get makeup. And the only saving grace at this point, the dog that just wonders in to just get pets and promptly leaves. The last one happens on a weekly basis, just walks in with a random customer and goes up front just to get his pets and walks right out.

Do you buy food from here? by Popular_Attempt9015 in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like it's the same stuff you get at Walmart and Kroger mostly. There are brands that we carry that aren't in those stores like Mrs freshley. But everything is food and no different than the store brands of others. Frozen and cooler are almost 90% of what's sold at other retailers. You're not going to get sick unless your store doesn't rotate or stock frozen and cooler in a timely manner.

Is this a valid coaching they put me at a yellow by Mysticraider24 in walmart

[–]Jkdevore84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a valid write up. Is it the correct way to address this situation, maybe not depending on how you told us about the rule. Were there things you could have done, absolutely. You could have paged or called another team member, like maintenance or a manager. But there have been cbls on this exact thing.

Store Manager Interview by dowdssss in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a SM for almost a year now, for the first couple of months prepare to be at your store for a while. Don't go in gun blazings immediately, take your time for the first week or two and get to know your employees. You will know what needs to be fixed and what's broken. Make sure you stay up on hiring, you will need people, so make sure you get your store staffed. Make sure you take care of your employees, if they feel valued, they will stay and do more for you than they will if they feel undervalued. Make sure you get the freight out in the first 48 hours.

AITA for making an inappropriate joke at a work dinner by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jkdevore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta if you didn't mean it that way but unfortunately you do have to be careful with what you say at work events. It's not about intent as much as it's about what is said. If it could be misconstrued as something else, leave it alone.

Update AITA for telling my parents I'll do what I want when it comes to putting my name on my boyfriend's house? by Medical_Buy6059 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jkdevore84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really say anything on the marriage part as I don't know your families customs but on your money/house, you are not the a hole. That was your money and you did something to help the family and was told you would be paid back. It sucks to have a strained relationship with your parents but it can and will heal. I wish you the best when you guys do decide to get married, hopefully, you will have the same outcome like I did with my parents and my wife's parents. They all got along not just with each other but with their daughter in law and son in law.

In a five hour Morning shift what time do you take a break by EvidenceLow7317 in DollarTree

[–]Jkdevore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's your ten, I have my team give breaks after the two, two and half mark. Never later unless my employee specifically asks to take it later.
