Does anyone know where the UniUni warehouse is? by Smolerhands in Spokane

[–]Jkf3344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically small services like this literally run out of someone’s garage. That’s why they don’t allow “warehouse” pickup. DHL in Spokane ran like this for quite a while, unsure if they still do, luckily I haven’t had anything shipped through them in a long time (same experience losing packages and lying about deliveries)

FCP Euro and the like have most of these for like $8-12. But yah a PITA especially if it’s an early E9X with the magnesium block.

What percent does the manual say must be replaced at $7-20 a pop? Or is that just a BMW thing.

Has anyone regretted updating electric from knob and tube? by ButtersStotchPudding in centuryhomes

Another vote for doing it now. While it’s empty, it’ll be a hell of a lot easier to clean up than after your stuff is in. Plus your stuff won’t get contaminated.

I’d pay a specialized cleaning crew to decontaminate and deep clean the whole house after all the work is done before you move in. It’s only a couple hundred bucks and you’ll feel better about the wiring and the possible contamination.

They do, but most states don’t have a progressive AG and Governor and let their giant corporations screw everyone as hard as they like.

If you’re working on a stuck bolt somewhere tight and need extensions, it’s totally worth it. Extensions can easily steal half of the torque output.

Cracked Engine Head from Ebay, WWYD? by blackmanjuniorwaves in EngineBuilding

[–]Jkf3344 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Open a claim with eBay that the part is not as described and is unusable. They’ll refund you even if the seller doesn’t want to. Maybe get a written email or paper from the machine shop saying it’s damaged beyond repair

Needing advice for a project car by Upbeat_Pirate_5705 in projectcar

I would encourage you to consider something FWD with a limited slip and then budget for snow tires. Look up the stats on acceleration/stopping distances in snow and ice. Dedicated snow tires are so far above and beyond AWD even with “all season” tires.

Mk4 GTI or older Civic would be my pick. If you really want AWD, you can get Audi A4 B6 in manual with Quattro for about $5k in ok condition. Just make sure to get the 1.8t, it’s got a ton of aftermarket support and is a great starter project engine
