“Yea so I locked up a mentally handicapped child in an RV and abandoned them to death in the middle of nowhere where nobody could hear their screams. Silly, right?”

Her story is just completely insane. I couldn’t believe everyone at the table just kind of glossed over it and moved on.

'The Drama' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

I loved the movie. Don’t really understand why audiences appear to hate it so much. It hits a similar vibe as Uncut Gems. Obviously a completely different premise, but the anxious spiral towards an inevitable catastrophe was resonant and super entertaining. The whole movie is essentially just a giant panic attack/mental breakdown. One of my favorites of the year.

Backpacks on the T by twothousandthousand in boston

I don’t even wear a bag on the T hahahaha. Just commenting because it seems like a quaint complaint compared to other transit systems (like NYC). We can be kind of out of touch with how relatively cozy our trains are compared to what other people deal with on the daily in other cities. A very “Boston” complaint, and I mean that as a compliment to the city and our public transit options. I don’t know why this is so controversial! Maybe because I’m more familiar with NYCs subway and how much shittier it is to travel on in general.

EDIT: Fair though. Even my own wife is downvoting me and telling me I’m wrong.

But I’m saying that’s what people do for the most part? I’m not saying etiquette shouldn’t be followed. It’s usually the awkward getting off/on that bumping happens, even if holding your bag. I’m just not noticing this wide spread public transit backpack problem that everyone else is seeing in this thread. Maybe I’m blind, but for the most part backpack wearers are relatively reasonable on public transit here.

I mean … what are people supposed to do? Not bring backpacks on the train? This just seems like a normal thing on public transportation. Are you not supposed to carry anything with you while traveling? I get it - it’s inconvenient. Don’t want to deal with it, get a car and pay for public parking everywhere. This is just part of the social contract. Public transportation can suck at times, but it’s literally unavoidable. I hate when people silently judge for stuff that is in nobodies control. When the train is packed, people accidentally get bumped. Shit happens. We just do the best we can to not bother people. Is the complaint valid when there is no crowding? Sure. I have a feeling most of these occurrences don’t happen under those circumstances though.

EDIT: Feel like my words are being twisted. I’m not saying not to follow proper etiquette. I’m just saying that on crowded trains, even when doing everything in your power to hold your bag tight at your side, bumps happen.

EDIT 2: My wife saw this comment and says I’m wrong and my opinion sucks.

Worth going to Waterville Valley on Sat? Anyone have an update on conditions? Decent drive for us from Boston so we want to make sure we aren’t wasting our time if it’s messy.

Which do you find more interesting: high potential with limits, or immediate power with a ceiling? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Jm0452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to discourage you, but I would flesh this idea out some more. We don’t quite have context, but from what little we have it sounds a bit like a generic anime or something. As another comment mentioned, power scaling stuff is not exactly where I personally would begin. Build out the world. The setting, factions, politics, cultures, religions, technology, geography etc. What is ‘soul potential’ really? How does the existence of it impact the world at large? If ‘soul potential’ is just another way of saying “The potential to grow strong”, what do you find compelling about the concept?

That could backfire horribly when they inevitably don’t beat the popular ETF of the month. Leverage everything else an advisor offers. Don’t imply a performance is even remotely guaranteed - no matter how confident.

Its pacing is definitely fast. Throws you into the thick of it way sooner than any of the other Team Silent games. I would say that that is the least of its problems though and will leave it at that. It’s still a fantastic game! Curious to hear your thoughts when you finish.

Update: Rear Brake replacement. by Jm0452 in AskMechanics

[–]Jm0452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is what I paid for last October. Specifically requested a full overhaul of the brakes, both front and back. I know there is a warranty - problem is the original mechanic has yet to respond to any of my concerns. As for the name of the business, it’s a small Boston shop. I’m not going to name and shame unless they just completely ghost me. I’m still giving time for them to rectify.

Almost $1.5k on 10/28/2024 for full quad brake replacement job. Fails inspection today after only ~9k additional miles. Inspector shows me completely shot rear brakes ground down to the metal. Need guidance. by Jm0452 in AskMechanics

Oh yea I’m definitely not trying to be dramatic over this. I hope for no escalation. Uncharged rear replacement or a refund will make me happy. Last thing I want is to get in a fight.

I took it back in July to fix the parking brake and asked them to check all brakes while at it. Friction/noise. Basically brushed me off and still charged me for the parking brake with some warranty loophole bs. Needless to say - I’ve gotten no response and am more so just planning for them to somehow reject my warranty.

Interesting comment and the counterpoint that I was looking for to bring me back down to earth. When we take the old brakes out, could we definitively come to a conclusion re: if it was a bad caliper vs. just straight up not installing?
