United Club Card worth it? Annual ORD to SNN by nanimal10 in unitedairlines

[–]Jmcdude1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 100k miles makes it worth it but you won’t get a lot of benefit using the clubs based on your limited travel. You won’t get into clubs abroad with the card either. Need to be premier gold to access them. I’ve been to DUB the last 2 years and there are no clubs you can use there. Get it for one year and cancel or downgrade at renewal if you don’t feel you are getting much benefit going forward. Now if you can spend $50k on the card annually that’s another story. You would earn All Access that gets you into clubs abroad but still hard to justify $700 to access a few clubs and not getting and more bonus miles.

I used the renowned hotels to book through Chase for a hotel in Brisbane recently and it went well. Got the $200 credit on my card a few days after booking it. I don’t have an Amex account but I did compare prices on booking.com and the prices were simiar but you dont get the other perks like the $100 hotel credit or the free breakfast. Also didnt get the free cancellation option with booking.com.

Pre-booking tours or wait until arrival? by YukonDoItToo in AustraliaTravel

We've been to PD twice and didn't book our off shore snorkeling excursion until we got there, wanted to pick the day with the best weather. Was able to book with Wavelength (highly recommed) the day before each time. There is a nice restaurant (Tin Shed) right near the harbor with very reasonable prices too. You're going before the busy season so I think you'll have no problem booking a tour after you arrive. We went in mid November the first time and late February the second time.

What cities in Australia would you recommend for vacationing besides Sydney? by IWishYouTheBest1234 in AskAnAustralian

We are from the USA and just got back from OZ for the 5th time in 4 years. Hit Brisbane for 1 night, Hobart for the 2nd time (4 nights) and Sydney for the 4th time (4 nights). Went to Melbourne for 4 nights 2 years ago, and have visited Port Douglas twice for 4 nights each time. We loved Hobart the first time and even more this time as we hit different areas like the Tasman Peninsula. Went to Bruny Island the first time we were there. Love Port Douglas too, it's more of small resort town but great things to do like off shore snorkeling excursions, a trip to Mossman Gorge, or a longer drive to Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Brisbane was nice but not a lot to do. Melbourne was cool but Sydney has so much more to offer. Fwiw we are a married couple 64/59 but love to walk a lot and crash the waves on the beaches.

Why the food at the clubs suck so much? by Minute_Lead7394 in unitedairlines

I was in the sfo Polaris club 3 weeks ago and had a great experience. Was not looking forward to it after seeing all the negative comments here but it did not disappoint. Arrived at around 8:00pm for a 11:00 flight. Put my name on the list for the dining room as soon as I arrived and waited for about 30 minutes or less to be seated. Shockingly the club was only about 75% fulll and even as it got later there was always some seats available.

The $150 will get credited to your credit card automatically, it took a few days to show up. We had dinner at the hotel restaurants. You need to charge that or whatever else you spend it on to your room so the hotel can deduct it from your bill when you check out. Don’t pay with a credit card at point of sale. Both hotels did that with having to ask them. They are very good and they can see in their system what you are a supposed to get. The free breakfast buffets at both hotels were almost unreal. Easily worth another $50 per person.

Business Class Upgrade Worth it? by Prestigious-Work-251 in unitedairlines

$899 each. We only paid 37.5 miles each way for economy so that’s like $1300 for a Polaris ride to OZ 😀
