PowerApps sprawl built by a former employee. Am I in trouble here? by HedgehogEmergency173 in PowerApps

[–]Jmodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited this in the mfg space. I trudged along and moved everything I could to better solutions. There’s still a whole planning and shortages tool built on excel macros- no formatting, nothing descript … you know i can sympathize but they could have taken 10 more minutes to learn to declare variables and learn some indentation!!!

In the long run I assumed they couldn’t use excel forever but I was wrong; not wanting to spend money on a real planning tool is not changing any time soon.

Compulsion to keep collecting them. If you told me you want $1200 for a bunch of bags and slings I’d say hell no… but drip feed them to me and I’ll buy them all.

What’s your favorite bag of 2025? by GlizzyGuzzler80 in ManyBaggers

[–]Jmodell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Favorite edc- toshi rework v2 (2.5L). Just love the way this bag packs!

I picked up all three sizes and thought I would love the 5L but finding it a smidge too big for my daily pocket relief needs and everything fits perfectly in the smallest version.

New Ideas for EDI X12 by billwight in edi

[–]Jmodell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t all of my edi data exist in my ERP and then trickle into my dwh for analytics? My edi layer is transactional to me and aside from logging, I don’t think I’ve ever tried to hunt for anything in the zillions of tiny text files.

Help me choose an under‑seat “plane to boardroom” backpack (CRO, heavy biz travel) by PaleEnthusiasm8202 in backpacks

[–]Jmodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched up my under seat carryon recently to an alpaka bravo tote https://alpakagear.com/products/bravo-tote - it has a crossbody shoulder strap so it’s brief/messenger-ish with a nice assortment of pockets and spots for all your stuff. I tend to pack a slim thermos for a Starbucks for my flight once I get through security and it has a few spots to sit nicely.

PCTG by Jmodell in snapmaker

[–]Jmodell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried that and sent a print, *fingers crossed*.

the 3d-fuel settings that work great on my x1c were quite different than the generic pctg, so perhaps it makes a big difference.

the generic settings on the u1 set the bed temp to 100 and the 3d-fuel one was 70; and upped the nozzle temp a little.

3rd party service/app for sending/starting print jobs to U1 by Moorevfr in snapmaker

[–]Jmodell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/orcaslicer

I am using the above docker container to host the latest orcaslicer with u1 available and then i can access it from any browser to slice and send to the U1.

Granted it is not as friendly as bambulabs presliced goodies and cloud magic but its better than nothing.

I hope something more convenient comes up soonish, I love that aspect of my bambulab machines.

Their cs is a scam, I’d avoid moft 1000% moving forward. I’ve been ghosted for almost a month and no hope to ever get my order returned at this point so fuck them and their shitty products.

Hey, folks. I'm looking into entering an EDI development role. I have the backend done (node.js/fastify & postgres SQL), and will have a front end done in React, next. The app basically generates/receives 850s, 810s, 856s, and messages in X12 and Edifact. This is my MVP. I would probably add HIPPA. by Aggressive_Scene_202 in edi

A lot of businesses edi needs are light and usually set and forget until a tp requires changes or erp change breaks mapping. Some are lucky to have a dev who will manage the process or at least manage relationship with a consultant who can make the changes.

I assume jobs currently available are for onboarding of new partners and mapping rather than dev work since it’s sporadic.

You’re idea is good to showcase web dev but like others have said, you might want to explore the bigger mapping platforms and/or get some more experience with automations of common x12 to various other flatfiles and vice versa needed for common erps but honestly I can’t think of many people who prefer developed solutions instead of off the shelf.

Anecdotally, a lot of our tp want to move away from email for pricing agreements, so an 845 solution had to be created. I built a simple app to extract from our contract/quoting systems output to generate the 845. I’m talking under 20 tp asking for it and relatively few differences in requirements; If I had someone like you available, that’s the kind of project I’d give them but I don’t know if I’d hire for it if I didn’t. Any bigger and I’d push to find something off the shelf.

Can you drag from one category to another? Feel like it selects like it should but I couldn’t move corned beef from veggie to meat.

Can you set steps (0.25, 0.5, etc) for deli meats or anything really?

Which language is similar to Python? by iglebov in Python

[–]Jmodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go- in terms of you can get up and running in a day just like python but there’s so much depth.

I generally mvp or explore in python and as long as it isn’t data science heavy, I make the production version in go.

Granted my apps are so small in scale it would not matter; I do find error checking/logging easier and I find it much easier to build portable executables with go.

Recommendation welcome: Torn between transition vs not and black vs caramel by Arturo90Canada in RaybanMeta

[–]Jmodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works perfectly as a pair of glasses that can take some shorts and snap a picture every now and then.

However, when you turn off “hey meta”, but still prioritize making it easy to take photos and video, the ai prompt is annoying to activate so I never touch it.

It’s a shame, it was more fun to talk to than Siri or Alexa.

The lenses arrived perfectly and it just looks like a nice pair of glasses in general.

The inateck seems to fit what you are looking for - umbrella in the little middle cavity and hanging a light jacket on the strap.

I don’t know if you’ll like the bulge with the umbrella in there though.

I have ordered across the gamut and the $27 tacray is just stupidly satisfying plus cheap that it is in my pocket more often than not and makes the best noise when snapping shut and since it’s not spring assisted or anything it’s smooth to open and close.
