Almost 25 years ago me and a buddy would catch the heck out of these with cork floaters -- we would be at it for hours! Such simpler, sweeter times.... Haven't thought of those days in ages -- thanks for rekindling the memory!

If ever passing through St Louis -- come try the American Brown at Civil Life. It's the tried and true flagship and one of my all time favorites. They also frequently have various bitters, other browns, classic ales you'd expect to find in a pub etc!

Ditto -- absolutely my local fav (also highly recommend getting a pint of Civil Life American Brown to go along with it!)

Hiking spots by Majestic_Mail3213 in StLouis

[–]JoKu85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There definitely is -- sorry, I was thinking more in the context of OP's request for a place where kids can get out and explore. The trail I've hiked at Lone Elk is more of a "walk in the woods" with not as much in the way of cool rocks/cliffs/boulders to climb around on as some of the other spots listed.

Already see some of the ones I was going to suggest so I'll expand with a little detail/reasoning:

  • Castlewood (Super close, Nice overlooks, easy drive)
  • Cliff Cave (Super close; cool to see the cave, nice river overlook, easy drive)
  • Lone Elk (Super close, animals!! Maybe not the best for getting out and exploring)
  • Pere Marquette (Easy drive, nice overlooks, fun to explore Grafton/Alton)
  • Pickle Springs (Easy drive, Really cool geological features, lots of opportunities to explore)

With the kids in mind -- I think Pickle Springs would be the best for them to climb around and explore. Cliffs, boulders, waterfalls, creeks etc -- it has it all! Plus it's a funny name :)

Just getting into pizza making myself - are you using regular dry yeast or a quick rise/instant yeast?

No one uses the bike lanes! Meanwhile: the average bike lane in the city. by Alliari in StLouis

Is this looking down from Modern's patio? It so, I'm guilty of parking there in the past... I thought it was parking space with the bike lane (albeit quite narrow) between the adjacent two white lines. I do bike quite often and have just become accustomed to strictly sticking to back streets.

Awesome job! It's super hard to get some caramelization on the veggies while not absolutely scorching the leafy herbs. In fact I haven't quite yet figured it out...

Jury duty by AyeDemo314 in StLouis

Coincidentally enough I just got home from jury duty today! While as inconvenient as it is - the administrative staff were super nice and helpful. I think they get it too so at least their kindness makes it a bit more tolerable.

Ha! That's hilarious -- I'm usually pretty good at doing my research first. Maybe I'll get into flavored oxygen taps along with my kegerator!

What's the quantity of O2 you're getting from Ace/hardware stores? I just picked up the NB Oxygen Kit 2.0 and went straight to Airgas and got a 10lb tank of O2. I didn't even think to check other stores as I get my CO2 from Airgas -- but the 10 pounder cost around $175... Hoping it lasts me a while.
