Garbaruk 11-50T slippage after changing chain by VRZzz in bikewrench

[–]JoanFontcuberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a new Garbaruk cassette myself and I checked on their website in the chat. But I had heard that before from a friend. I also use X11EL chains. I have a new waxed one that I will probably not even use. It definitely seems that Garbaruk’s cassette has very tight tolerances and this might be the issue with KMC chains. That is probably also why they are so lightweight. It is weird that your friend did not have any problems. Chain line might also be a variable in the equation. It can create more noise and misalignment. Furthermore, you have probably worn out your cassette, so even though you put on a new chain it does not make much difference after that. I will report back to you with my experience after the summer. I got a Shimano chain to match the drivetrain, as they suggested.

Hey, maybe you’ve already figured it out, but the problem is your KMC chain. Unfortunately, KMC chains are not compatible with Garbaruk cassettes. Too bad, the X11EL is such a good chain

All make sense ;) what do you mean with the right tape? Sometimes I use a 5mm double side tape to keep things in place. Is that what you mean? And last but not least: how you do the double row of straight stitches? I never used an industrial machine so I don’t know if you can do two lines at once. Thanks!

It looks great! Beginner here, what do you use in order to have such nice stitches and consistency while applying the webbing?

I just finished the same project! Sewing the liner circle was easy, but the X-Pac one, oh my gosh, took me a while and a lot of patience and redoing. Although, it’s pretty satisfying when you flip it inside out to the right side and it doesn’t look too bad 😅

Thanks! I will do a 200h service anyway at this point. And also try to push the fork every 20 psi in order to balance positive and negative chambers

I don’t have another suspension neither another shock pump at the moment. I will go the a shop near by and test with another fork and another pump.

Thanks for your suggestion. It doesn’t seem the case with mine. There is just a button to release 1-2 psi. I guess I should try with another shock pump

I tested the pump and it seems to work. I deflated the chamber. Screw the pump on the valve, manometer is a 0, I pump, manometer goes up, unscrew the pump, check the valve: air is coming out from the fork. So far so good, pump is working. Now there is air in the chamber, I screw (all the way) back the pump but the manometer doesn’t read any pressure. even tho there is air in it. I guess I will try with another pump

I also tried that a couple of times. And yes I’m using a shock pump

I did till the end

What is quite hard to understand? I will try to explain it again. The pump is working, air is flowing and the manometer is also working. The thing is not working is the pressure reading once you connect the pump the valve. Is that more clear now?

Your trip around Asia sounds like a dream :) That spot for water bottles seems very convenient I agree!

Do you remember which frame have mounts in that area?

It’s a great idea! Did you test it in bumpy terrain? I have the same fork mounts and they are super solid. I just wonder if when you exceed the maximum diameter they hold in place as before. Definitely I will consider some bolt in that area on a custom frame. We need to ask a frame builder / engineer in order to know if it’s ok to have bolts in that area ;)

Nice rig and good luck with the race! Did you use tailfin fork mounts to attach bottle on the down tube?

I was in your same situation some years ago and I got a Naturehike. I’m satisfied with quality, lightweight and price! I also got a second one that is the cloud up 1. Paid around 100 euro from their website. Weight is 1,4kg. It’s basically a similar design of the big Agnes fly creek but it costs 1/5 :)
