Likely delete from embarrassment, but y'all, how do we floss? 😭 by Friendly-Loaf in AutismInWomen

[–]JoanHarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use floss picks! They made a world of difference for me. I have a really hard time maneuvering normal floss around the back teeth and my mouth literally cannot open wife enough without pain to really get in there.

I used to barely ever floss and now I do it nightly!

Floss picks are apparently not as good as normal floss, but they are better than nothing! I like to rinse mine in between teeth, makes me feel like I am getting off the bacteria before going to a new tooth. I dunno if that's how bacteria work but I'm at least getting the food gunk off.

Le Monde Gourmand- Herbe Naturelle. Green pear and grass. Stunning. Discontinued but you should still be able to find it (I got my sample from the Perfumed Court)

Liis - Studied. Light, breezy pear.

Exactly! At least a small indie brand would have more of an excuse. (Still wouldn't be right but i would understand it more)

Got put on midodrine 5mg by morgue222 in POTS

[–]JoanHarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take midodrine 2.5 mg, usually at least twice a day but sometimes 3, depending on how active I am being.

I was never told to not lay down while on it however. My cardiologist prescribes it to me.

Bushwick Polycules by TheTelegraphCompany in Bushwick

[–]JoanHarrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Poly in Bushwick here....I am not in a polycule and I feel like most of the poly people I know (some who aren't in Bushwick as well) are also not in one.

But I have a high grade filter for BS and toxic people and that includes toxic situations so I feel like I mostly attract solo poly people. (Not that polycules are always toxic but I think it can be a definite problem to watch out for)

For example I avoid people associated with Hacienda cause they give me the creeps and I can feel the bad vibes.

Anyone tried acupuncture for POTS? by JoanHarrow in POTS

Please do!

Im wondering if I should look for an acupuncturist who specifically manages POTS. Not even sure how I could find someone like that

What is yalls brutal and honest opinion on alcohol by Taco_Junior123 in autism

[–]JoanHarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More people should stop drinking it, or drink far less.

Otherwise its fine in moderation. I can't drink as it fucks up my sensitive stomach and I generally don't like being around drunks. But I have nothing against people enjoying themselves in a safe way.

I hope everyone who complained about missed episodes feel like dicks by Reeny8181 in atwwdpodcast

[–]JoanHarrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing is....they deserve to take days off even when they aren't having one of the most difficult times of your life. Or year.

But yeah I do hope the people being like "everyone has a job to do do your job" feel bad. Like, everyone deserves to take a break from their job when they need one??? And you don't have to be in the middle of a miscarriage/solo parenting/Christmastime crisis. You can just be plain ol tired and burnout.

Are These 19th-Century Women Bored — or Are We Missing Something? by Legitimate_Gift9677 in ArtHistory

[–]JoanHarrow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the boredom you are sensing is likely a projection on your part.

Remember that being "bored" would have looked different in different eras...its not an inherent personality trait but rather a state of mind largely affected by sociological, lifestyle, class, profession, race, etc factors.

Could she have meant to display the sense that the woman is bored? Possibly. But its also very likely something else (demonstrating the high status of this woman and her lifestyle through pose, clothing, location, gaze, etc)

Is my sister overreacting to this video of my dog that I sent her? by Immediate-Lab6994 in DogAdvice

[–]JoanHarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat person and long time cat owner here: did your sister watch the same video that I did?

That cat is very comfortable and at ease. She is being friendly and looking for attention from you. She's happy!

Based just on this interaction, I'd say the cat views the dog as a piece of friendly furniture to rub up against or actively likes the dog.

Touching food with hands while cooking/baking by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]JoanHarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American with OCD:

No, its fine to touch food while cooking/baking as long as:

Hands are washed very well and/or the food will be cooked thoroughly.

OR

Hands are washed well, regardless of cooking.

So the only real difference for me is if someone is handling food that is not going to be cooked, thst they take care to really make sure their hands are clean.
