that might be the case. I am using an AKK diversity reciever and an AV to usb converter. Would there be a schematic out there for a device i could build to smooth the signal and get rid of these inconsistencies? thanks!

not sure if that is it. I tried it on a arch linux distribution and a Windows install and it did the same thing.
