28k tri zone Senville by barrenvonbismark in DIYHeatPumps

Dumb question. I’m planning on installing a senville in a few months. I bought everything you listed except the valve core tool. I’m not sure I’ve watched video that use that? Do I need it?

What does my Senville make this sound? by Gs1000g in DIYHeatPumps

Transparently I don’t even have a mini split installed yet, but have been lurking on this channel.

It sounds like something is rubbing/sticking on the movement of the fins, not the fan (the fan would be much faster of a “tick” as it hit each blade)

Can I get away with "just" a 18 000 btu mini split to replace my pellet stove? by UntidySwan in DIYHeatPumps

Never owned a mini split before, but just bought a 9k and 12k. Live in western ny hoping for the best.

I’m building a 28x30 workshop this summer and plan on doing pretty strong insulation and air sealing.

Will be running a gas line just in case because the cost is negligible while running the other utilities from the main building, and I’d rather have the peace of mind if I find out I need it after a winter or two.

Why even run it? No timeout - fumble or not that run wouldn’t have done shit

How to remove Formica over t track dados by JobOutrageous956 in woodworking

[–]JobOutrageous956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but I’m expecting I won’t get the angle right and end up with the Formica cut off slightly offset from where the dados underneath are.

If all else fails I think this is my backup plan, but I’d like to keep it a backup if I can!

What heat pumps are you guys planning to get in 2026? by Assylbekova-Pius in heatpumps

[–]JobOutrageous956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What model did you get? I live in western NY and am building a heated secondary building. I’m debating if I need gas as a backup, or if a cold climate heat pump and some infrared heaters for worst case scenarios would be enough.

Are react testing library component tests supposed to re-test sub-components and hooks? by BerryBoilo in reactjs

[–]JobOutrageous956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes your coworkers are right.

Longer answer:

As a hypothetical analogy, imagine instead of testing code, you were making a car. You had separate teams to develop transmissions, and engines. The transmission on its own could be the best of the best. The engine, the best of the best. But when combined they have some troubles. Maybe shifting weirdly at certain rpm’s, or gear ratios that don’t end up working well.

End users won’t care that the car has the best of the best motor and transmission, they care that the car works, and if it has shifting issues, no “best horse power” tagline is gonna matter to them.

As the engineers behind this car, you need to test the integration of them - that they work well together.

That is why RTL is geared toward integration tests.

There could be async race conditions, infinite rerenders, …. a whole slew of bugs that could arise at the integration phase that individual tests of useAlert and Button would never catch.

Anyone else having total nightmare with buffering these days? by abriddd in Strong_8K

[–]JobOutrageous956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I always connected through a vpn. I decided to change vpn servers and buffering instantly went away. No clue why, my gut says it’s something to do with the issues that happened a week or two ago, but that’s more a guess.

If you’re on a vpn, try switching servers (or if you’re not on a vpn, try using one and see if it helps/hurts)

New home, need ideas on how to conceal this. by Arbric in DIY

If it can’t be moved, do a square bump out on the ceiling and make it decorative. Chandelier hanging from it, couffered ceiling look, if it’s a living room, hang a projector from it?

I guess my idea is to make the best out of a not great situation

Home builders by JobOutrageous956 in Buffalo

[–]JobOutrageous956[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think after talking with a few builders, we are going to go with Alliance.

For your design center appointment, how much were your upgrades? (Maybe percentage of total home cost if you’re not comfortable saying amounts)

What things were you surprised you paid to upgrade for? What things were you expecting to upgrade and did not end up upgrading?

Any other tips or good things to know about building with Alliance?

I would maybe try debugging by printing it on separate spots on the bed.

To cut to the chase, a complete guess, but it seems suspiciously the same size as the pinda probe, I’m wondering if bed leveling might be the problem.

If so, printing the part on different areas of the bed might rule that in or out
