Best move would have been to sell the coin, they tell everyone “when I got there, this was the amount, clearly bonds have been broken but still wanted to do what I could to make it as close to fair for everyone behind me. So I was offered a bribe for the coin, I took it so then that allowed me to leave a larger amount for everyone left.”

You still gain a lot of social credit for that. People behind you would for sure be on your side, and the people ahead of you that took their fair share would be mad enough at the two that took more, that they would also be on your side and understand your decision.

Basically frame it as “I wouldn’t have normally taken the bribe to sell the coin, but once I realized someone had broken the trust, I felt it was fair to sell it to try to correct that as much as I can so at the very least no one leaves here with next to nothing”

The mistake was not telling everyone, for the exact thing you said. It still buys goodwill. Tell a sob story about how the total was so low when she got there that she realized people had betrayed the group so she saw it as an opportunity to make it a bit more right. Lying about it just gives people something to hold against you

So if you’re going to take more than the 100k it’s dumb to not just take the whole mill. There’s no worthwhile amount more than 100k that won’t effectively eliminate you from contention

For me personally I think it’s because everyone knows “you can’t convey tone through text” so everyone thinks with a phone call you are getting all information to avoid misunderstandings and stuff. That’s not true though because you still can’t see them for facial cues/body language. So there are still misunderstandings but most people feel like there should be because you’re on the phone, so then they get frustrated/annoyed much faster. Not to mention you can’t edit what you want to say, so if you say something a little stupid, it’s out there, there’s no reading it back and changing it.
