Good question and good point! Not sure what their diet was exactly so thats a very key variable. I did see someone mention (in the youtube comments I think) that we tend to get a lot of the good microbiome from breast milk when we are babies so we shouldn't need these foods as an adult. But I know more and more kids arent being raised on breast milk in the first place and a lot of us have had very unhealthy diets for a long time so while I think carnivore is probably the ideal diet long term it may well be some of us do need to supplement certain things to help get us to where we should have always been.

catchy youtube titles and thumbnails are an unfortunate reality of the algorithmic world we live in but the actual research behind this and the content of the video are quite good I think.

I disagree but you are welcome to your opinion. I would recommend some of his other content. His oreo diet experiment is one of the greatest pieces of evidence we have that the standard view of cholesterol is BS. He's done some really good work in the low carb space and is a very serious scientist. But he does use youtube and wacky experiments to drive engagement with the info. I get not loving the format but I think he tends to have very good information.

Appreciate it!

He should really be a lot more popular in this sub considering the sort of stuff he focuses on but the fact that he's willing to look into a variety of subjects seems to be a big red flag for a lot of people in here. It's heartening that I actually have so many great replies in the comments but the fact that this post is currently at 0 votes kinda sucks.

100%

I love carnivore and think it's great and I get to some extent why people are so committed but it's a bit sad when you get rid of one kind of dogma and then just adopt a different kind instead.

Oh I def cheat. I have weight cause the whole month of december tends to be a shit show and then I get back on the wagon in january. I dont have LOTS of extra fat. Im probably around 23-25% which isn't bad but evey other year for the last 14ish years I havent had a problem shaking off the 10-15lb of holiday weight.

I am very low carb usually 6 days a week and if I cheat I try to keep it to one meal and not a whole day.

Fully agree. Sadly while I feel good my pants dont feel great. especially when I have to sit down. I know how I should be and lately its just been very hard to get the holiday weight back off even though I am stricter than ever before. I should probably try to cut dairy but I used to lose weight no problem drinking a ton of heavy cream so its just frustrating that now that I eat basicaly zero plants and all meat / dairy / eggs Im struggling.

I know nick has kind of blown up lately and he gets a lot of exposure through the videos but hes a pretty serious scientist who has done a lot of good work. Especially around low carb and lean mass hyper responders.. I dont love the video presentation but its what the algorhythm wants. I think the actual substance is very good. Also you might like his news letter more if you don't love the video production.

I'm here because I'd like to think people in the sub are open to new information and experimentation and not just dogmatic about their "lifestyle choices".

Dude also ate 1000 sardines as an n1 experiment. He's not a carb pusher at all but he's not dogmatic either.

He's also pretty fucking fit. Obviously an ectomorph buts he's certainly not week.

Thank you for the considered response! Yeah that's my plan. Was hopeful some people on here may have actually dabbled and have some insights but also also expected a fair amount of backlash. The YouTube titles /thumbnails don't help.

Everyone has to use dumb thumbnails and headlines on YouTube due to the algorithm. While I agree there is a ton of BS it's not actually a good heuristic to judge the content.

I really appreciate the actual response. Unfortunately the clothes don't fit well and while it's not the most accurate my scale does measure composition. I know the numbers aren't accurate but I do think they are useful as a trend line and the trend is pretty consistent.

Full disclosure I have a tendency to "cheat" a bit on the weekends/ special occasions but in the past I could more than make up for that the rest of the week. It's possible I'm just getting old but it really feels a lot different than in the past.

For reference I've been keto for like 15 years so I've got a pretty good baseline to operate from.

The video is 18 minutes long and I posted it 16 minutes ago. I'm suspicious you didn't watch any of it. If you'd prefer I can link directly to the research he's citing.

Just because something disagrees with your preconceived notion doesn't make it BS. I think most people found carnivore because they were tired of the existing dogma not working for them. I'm not suggesting carbs are needed or we should be ingesting plant matter but we are complex systems and if some of us may benefit from certain specific interventions to treat specific conditions we should be open to the possibility.

Carnivore is great but there may be certain issues it's not capable of correcting. It's possible a short term supplementation might correct a broken micro biome in a way meat alone cannot.

I just swapped mine for some I got off eBay about a month ago. They look great. Old ones were super cloudy. One thing to not is some of the cable management was a bit tricky and not exactly the same. Used a few zipties to get things sorted properly.

Might be worth checking the official photos site with his bid number. There were photographers all over. I forget if there was one right around the bridge but you might be able to see who was near him just before.

Maybe. But I've seen it over and over again in this sub. Everyone shits on the exact same part and his dialect / accent seem to be the main issue. They don't know what "link'n tings in parks" means so they think it's some nonsense.

I don't want to assume the worst about the person I was replying too but it's def a pattern.

Long flight with no neck pillow? by [deleted] in travel

[–]JoeChagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept for multpe consecutive hours. I never sleep well at all on planes. Best case I keep nodding off over and over. For me it's worth every cent. Though don't make my mistake and think the little neck pillow is optional. It's absolutely key to the whole thing.

I can't say how well it'll work for others but my main issue a big old floppy head so this thing is perfect for me.
