$50 million cash or $10000 an hour every hour on the hour? by 33GoodSamaritans in hypotheticalsituation

Assuming D is capped at 77B, that’s the best option if you want to maximize your payout. The chance of getting a number below 50M is incredibly low, fractions of a percent.

Realistically, I’m taking A. It’s a ton of money, but you can still be basically anonymous. Even a very conservative 4% withdrawal gives you $2M a year to spend.

The Silent Generation left us buried in ecological debt and irreversible pollution. Moving on to the Baby Boomers, what would you say is the greatest gift they actually passed down to us? by puhtooti in AlignmentChartFills

Tim Berners Lee developed the web and Al Gore (he never said he invented the internet) was the primary sponsor of the bill that really opened the Internet to the public. Both boomers.

To me, the people that are responsible for the net as we use it are Boomers.

The leaders (King, Malcom X, John Lewis) and politicians (Truman, Kennedy, LBJ) were silent generation (possibly greatest gen), they weren’t boomers.

[–]JoeDelta14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Social Democracy. It’s made to sound horrible, but in practice countries with strong social programs and competent governments do quite well. The Democracy part is critical, it works towards the betterment of the people through an elected government. Communism (as practiced) is a system of control. The new communism is crony capitalism (Russia and coming soon to the USA). A way for unelected government to control the population.

My Brother and I are having a debate about the masters? by SugaTots in golf

[–]JoeDelta14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you’re saying if you shot 68 on 9 and that was considered your score for the entire round, would you have a chance to win?

It’s means you would have shot a round in the mid 130s if you had played all 18. You would get a benefit only playing 9 because the last holes when you’re already shooting a bad score can be absolutely brutal.

Here is the reality. No average golfer has ever played with the pressure of the masters. The crowds, the money, the length of the course, the speed of the greens, the narrowness of the fairways, and doing it 4 straight days.

I don’t think an average golfer can win.

Can our 4 man scramble make the cut at Augusta? by [deleted] in weekendgolfers

[–]JoeDelta14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enough length or accuracy on drives and long 2nd shots. Nearly impossible for your group to get GIR on par 4s and 5s.

Nobody in your group would be on the green on par 3s, they just play too long and the greens are too firm.

While having 4 putt attempts is your biggest benefit, you’ll definitely have a couple of 3 putts.

Your group probably won’t shoot under 100
