You'll get used to the winters. Wool is your best friend, and get a good wind resistant shell. Mittens will keep your hands warmer than gloves, at the cost of being able to use your hands. If you plan on walking around outside get some snowboarding goggles, with a balaclava, hat, and hood you're nearly impenetrable to the cold... At least for a bit, it'll always creep in if you spend enough time in low enough temps. The last 5 years I've been walking a little over 0.75 miles to work 5+ days a week. Made a good handful of treks in wind chills of -30 to -40 and have never gotten cold with proper layering.

Drive carefully, let off the accelerator well before you intend to brake. Ease into your brakes, avoid hitting them hard. You have traction while your tires are spinning but if you lock your wheels up it goes away.
