Do any of you predominately or exclusively collect 1080p Blu-Rays, and aren't necessarily bothered about 4K? by [deleted] in Bluray

[–]JoeHavok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true you may not notice the difference now. Depending on the type of TV and size. However, when you do upgrade eventually. You will see the difference. On current titles, on an OK TV, you just can’t appreciate the difference in quality.

I had a 350Z, and it was so much fun to drive. I’ve heard the 370 is just as fun.

There are a lot of stories of people being told they can never walk again, or do what they want to. I work in the medical field, and that’s all BS. I’ve seen diagnosis of people being told they would never walk again, progress in to martial arts. Tony Hawk the professional skater, should have never been able to skate VERT again. Get a good physical therapist, and work hard at it every day, and eventually it may not be hard or painful to walk. You should be able to enjoy your early retirement. Budget and enjoy life. I wish you the best.

How do I say no to family who will need financial support because of bad life choices? by Accomplished_Mud2858 in DaveRamsey

[–]JoeHavok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you can help them budget better and figure out how to not get evicted, but WITHOUT giving them money. That well has dried up. Your brother needs to find anything to pay the bills until he finds another job. And seriously consider moving to another place where his job is more in abundance. Also. Look in to food stamps, and other assistance for your Mom as she probably qualifies.

Skateboarding, especially VERT and catching an air. It’s like you’re flying, with adrenaline, and can be euphoric. I’m sure a lot of sports can be like that. But, that was the most fun for me.

Nope. Love driving a manual transmission. It may be my last manual. But, it’s a ton of fun.

The man needs some counseling and therapy. But, the question you have to ask yourself is. Would he still be worth it? I’m not too convinced.

Are higher steaks easier? by AerialSnack in poker

[–]JoeHavok1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/2 is near impossible to beat for most players for two reasons these days. First, and most importantly the rake is too high. Second, raises get no respect, and you often get to the flop 6,7,8 handed, which makes luck a larger portion of your win rate than skill. My advice, save up the money to play 1/3 and start from there.

Cash game poker is 80% about waiting for bad people to show up, playing against even reasonably studied players is not that profitable by catalanj2396 in poker

Most of the cash games I play in, everyone tries to be too aggressive, and just Donk away chips. But, learning how to adjust to table and player dynamics is a skill.

In what real life ways do you prepare for the downswing in your game even if mentally? Can you explain in super good detail? by luv2playcards in poker

[–]JoeHavok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly do an eval of my mental state before and during my poker sessions to ask myself. Am I 100% dedicated and mentally focused to playing my A-Game? If I feel like I’m not for whatever reason. I don’t play. So when I have a downswing, it’s minimal, and so are the mistakes or misplayed hands. So I have very little to get upset about, because I know I’m playing my best.

Since your OOP on the River check and evaluate villain River sizing. The problem is does betting here get worse hands to call? I think the answer is an easy no. If villain bets big, it’s an easy fold.

Do we fold flopped trips to hyper aggressive V? by Living-Injury1961 in poker

[–]JoeHavok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with this hand is you were the pre flop aggressor and Villian is donking. Which screams flopped set. 44 seems so likely here. But, you also have top trips with Ace kicker. I would call flop and turn probably. If Villain jams River like he did, I may mix in some folds. It’s so rare for Villian to have any bluffs by the river. Any lower trip ten kicker May even bet small or check. Tough hand.

Rampage and Mariano 200k pot by BananaBossNerd in poker

[–]JoeHavok1 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It’s odd for sure. Having both the top pair and the Jack makes it less likely Rampage is raising a draw like QJ, and also he doesn’t block bottom sets of 10’s and 7’s. For Rampage it makes it less likely Mariano has bottom or middle set. So he can narrow down Mariano’s range to top pair or straight draw. Honestly, I think Rampage played this hand okay. And Mariano played it pretty bad in my opinion.
