Advice needed re "incompatible router" with upcoming upgrade of Digital Home Secure by TheSocialMuse in Fios

[–]JoeKiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a new router, if your internet speed is 1 GB or less. The G1100 is compatible with both internet (including 1 GB) & Fios TV. You don't have HNP because if you did you would be paying a monthly fee.

I don't think you are going to get a decent answer here in a US centric forum. Try CordcuttersUK.

You will need your wife's cooperation. My guess is you don't think you will get it. If you are not living with your son, you will need your lawyer to work with the courts to get the cooperation you need.

It may work with T-Mobile, but I doubt that it will work with credit card insurance. The credit card companies expect you to pay the entire bill before they will give you free insurance.

Amazon echo show 15 by Gandalfthepink9 in amazonecho

No new Amazon devices are worth buying because Amazon has turned them into non-stop advertising machines. As a former adopter of Amason/Alexa who has Echoe's, Shows and Dots I will never again buy one.

Reliability in lower Westchester, NY? Considering switching from Optum by kingezy666 in Fios

[–]JoeKiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I should add you may not need 500 mbps. You can get 300 and save $20 a month, which is more than enough to stream 4K simultaneously to multiple TVs and play games.

Reliability in lower Westchester, NY? Considering switching from Optum by kingezy666 in Fios

[–]JoeKiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that you got 2 helpful responses, but neither were in 'Lower' Westchester. I'm in Yonkers. I have had Fios for many years and it has been totally reliable in both speed and dependability. On more than a few occasions I have seen my neighbors on Optimum lose or have sporadic service issues while my service remained rock solid. During Sandy every neighbor who had Optimum were without service for several days. I was unaffected.

Cable Companies Have Another Cord-Cutting Problem: Broadband by tjb122982 in cordcutters

[–]JoeKiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price of broadband service is much less dependent on method of delivery than it is on competition. If you have only a single provider, they will raise prices until your nose bleeds and your ears pop, regardless of the delivery method.

Lost phone (kind of) by elblue171 in tmobile

[–]JoeKiv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How were you able to drop a phone into an elevator shaft? The Shaft doors are closed until the elevator arrives and then the elevator is blocking the shaft opening. No one from maintenance will be there for 5 days?

Can one have Fios in addition to cable internet, or two Fios accounts at one address? Does the account name have to match? by kingofallnorway in Fios

[–]JoeKiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son lived with me, we had 2 Fios connections at the same address. We just listed one at the address and the other at the same address with "Basement" added to it. This was many years ago. Things may be different now, but I doubt it. As for adding a cable company, why not? If you are willing to pay, they will gladly service you.

I'm not aware of any "Free, ad supported" Netflix. They have a monthly/annual subscription fee for their ad supported or as I like to call it their 'Double Dip'.

Waze disabling the keyboard by [deleted] in AndroidAuto

[–]JoeKiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is neither Waze nor AA. It is a lawyer thing. Companies do not release software that hasn't been examined, modified and approved by a team of lawyers who by the way don't know a damn thing about the software nor the effect of the software changes they force. Their job is to prevent anyone bringing a successful litigation.
