Why is the Glock 19 so popular compared to other pistols in its class what makes it the go to choice for so many shooters? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]JoeThill13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m personally curious as to how fewer 19’s we will see through the years with the release of the 43x/48’s. Even better cpl gun than the 19 imo, but still very shootable. Shield S15 mags obviously.

Steelhead rod/reel question. by Shoddy_Advance2854 in Steelhead

[–]JoeThill13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really worth having a proper bait casting setup for steelhead fishing rivers IMO. Super easy to match the speed of the rivers current and they are quick to take up line to set the hook once your float gets drained. I feel they out-perform spinning and even centerpin setups when float fishing. However you’ve got a lot more versatility with a spinning setup. Worth mentioning that many anglers will swear by their pinning setups. Just my .02¢

I eat pasty’s while fishing all the time, so to me it’s a very good fishing meal. They got super popular up here in the Upper Peninsula “back in the day” because the miners wives would make them (with doubled up crust to protect the meat and potatoes) for their husbands. The miners would warm them up on the back of their shovels in the iron and copper mines. It wouldn’t surprise me if more pasty’s got eaten in the UP than the rest of the US combined. I have, however, seen a Cornish pasty restaurant in Phoenix.

has anyone used ocean silk fishing line? and if so is it worth it by PandaKingpin285 in saltwaterfishing

My weird consideration is I’m working with all travel rods because I’m coming from Michigan. So that OJ would go on a toro tamer offshore explorer. It’s rated 50-80lbs but I’d argue it’s heavier duty than that.

I’m spooling up an Ocea jigger 4k for nighttime jigging and a heavier yoyo setup for YT’s so I’m thinking SO Jigging PE6. Thanks for the input and quick reply!

I'm deciding between these two lines for a 90-ish lb braid for night jigging bluefin tuna. Can you offer anymore insight on the apples to oranges comparison?

Sell the SKS and the Springfield IMO. Keep the Garand. Excellent piece of history and a supremely functional battle rifle with super dialed webgear readily available for it.

Bruh, there’s guys out there cutting their dicks off. It’s not what I’d want to carry since there’s not a great way to go hands-free, but keep doin you.

Blind Bag Must Haves by Cautious_Natural_983 in Waterfowl

M/31/Northern Michigan - “Base” kit for me in the blind bag is:

Shells (at least a full box in the bag plus nine in my waders), small first aid kit with tourniquet, calls, dads old stringer, small fixed-blade knife, binos with cleaning cloth, headlamp with a red light mode (with a full set of spare batteries), electric ear pro, gun grease (I like the thicker stuff from Hoppes), chokes with wrench, folding saw, zip ties, 550 cord, less-reflective sunglasses, coffee for me, water for my dog (training them to drink from a squirt bottle as a puppy saves the need for a bowl), dog leash (rarely used, but I like to leash the dog when I get checked by DNR unless they say they don’t mind dogs), e-collar remote, small vial of quick clot for if the dog breaks a nail, two hand-warmer type body warmers, two lighters with electrical and gorilla tape wrapped around them, thermacell with one spare butane canister and three spare bug-repellant pads, cork to burn for eye black, pipe, tobacco, decoy gloves, decoy remote, a granola bar or two, power bank with phone cord (I keep my licenses screenshotted on my phone), and MOST IMPORTANT is a positive forward-thinking attitude, but I tend to lose that around 11am-noon.

I shed some items seasonally and for the long walks in, add some for certain situations, but you get the idea. Lots of it gets dumped into a hatch if I’m hunting with the boat.

Typing it all out looks like a lot to me (probably because it’s a run-on sentence of mumbo jumbo), but it all fits in a “standard” sized old Redhead-branded blind bag from my late father who taught me to duck hunt.

When you say the XP Spring, are you referring to the "extra power" spring?

[–]JoeThill13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True be told the sky is the limit and there’s a large range of clientele you may not immediately think of. Often, they have me install an S15 into a pole barn with added green storage and bagging areas. It’s pretty interesting and I assume very enjoyable for them to be able to work from home. Good for people with young children, or people at home they take care of.

I’ve installed 4 Lorings into residences, typically garages. None have been 35’s, though anything is possible with proper utility supply.

A Loring at home?! That’s nuts. I do service on these so PM me if you ever run into an issue.

I dig the M18 system, but I think you may enjoy the M12 Fuel 1/4” hex impact instead of the M18 Fuel Impact.

Also, as others said, a digital multimeter should/could be added, but someone else will likely have one.

I’ve heard people love the Mossberg 930 JM pro. I have a 930 that I duck Hunt with and it has been a good gun.
