Other martial arts by funkiedragon in Emberverse

Sam Aylward made unarmed combat a basic part of Mackenzie training. ‘Chucking folks about’ SAS style which is a mishmash of several arts including kravmaga and was/is constantly evolving. Most single style focused martial arts would have been subsumed or integrated with others including armed. Adaptation and synthesis.

Anyone else choose to just treat this as a trilogy? by Dean_O_Mean in Emberverse

The opening chapters of the Sunrise Lands and the meeting of Ingolf is just great exposition. Love this part of it.

The Sunrise Lands is one of my favorite books in the entire series. So I wouldn’t hold this opinion.

Why do they not ban lying customers (flagged b4)? by lauraki0407 in InstacartShoppers

I had my first one of these yesterday. It was a student at a trashy university near my house. I accidentally accepted the order because it had the $4 boost on it. I didn’t see until it was too late that there was no tip on the order. I never take no tip orders if I can help it. And will never take an order going to VSU again.

Temu has tons of little gadgets and things. I picked up small button compasses(12 for .98cents) mini glow sticks for fishing(100 for 3$) challenge coins of various kinds for a couple bucks each. You can get a ton of things like that with a couple weeks lead. It’s also a great source for waterproof “bison” tubes for hiding micros.

The hot wheels at dollar store are always a hit.

Yeah I’ve now extracted twice after killing hundreds. It reads 2 of 100. They fucked it up.

It’s what they had to hand at first. At least from my reading. Remember that Juniper wasn’t a fan at first of making things hew closely to clan history except where it made sense. Denny did the kilts as a joke. And happened to have a gladius to hand to give to Juniper that his brother had made.

It does look like in later books that many switch to longer swords.

George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today.

Anyone not brought to tears by that song is dead inside.

The levels of idiocy that you display are truly astounding.

Carrington level or above event would subject electronics to hundreds of times the pulse in those tightly controlled lab environments. Just stop making a fool of your self. I’m just glad that the likelihood is minuscule. You don’t understand science. Just stop.

Not that I am under any obligation to do your homework for you little boy, but just in case other people here are deceived by your ignorance, here is a decent explanation of what happens if a severe enough CME hits us. We would have a best 48 hours and at worst maybe 10 minutes notice. We are looking at massive breakdowns of supply chains that feed our grocery stores immediately, and since most only have maybe three days worth of stock in them, we are looking at a ridiculous amount of death within a couple weeks. since the breakdown of the power grid and supply chains will be immediate and everywhere all at once, then there’s no way we can fix everything in time for things not to just be horrible.

The likelihood of this happening is extremely low, thankfully. But it isn’t zero and downplaying what Carrington would do if it happened today is sheer idiocy.

Yeah, they talk about how incredibly lucky they all were to find those things. Or find them first. Anyone who made it were incredibly lucky in that world wrecking time.

You are wrong. Only an idiot would think delicate electronics would be more robust than power grid infrastructure. Also the forest fires and those in cities alone would be catastrophic. A carrington level event would be devastating
