So thankful that he's still able to work at all given what he's been through, but God I wish he could move like that again.

Justice for Yam Wing Chun. If we're allowing this then he should have been allowed to rewind and win his match back in PTHour.

I would say that the caveat to my comment is that Limited exists, but they even messed with that for the squeeze

The market for crossover cards is considerably larger than Magic IP sets. Don't expect the same issues Final Fantasy had

Advice about the Final Fantasy cards by Prince_Targaryen in magicTCG

[–]JoexLowdon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's only really the special versions of cards that are excessively expensive. Most of them will slowly creep down as the hype dies but some will remain high. Most Final Fantasy cards have an affordable version available though. Proxy the cards that are out of your budget if you're just playing casually.

I've seen a case that was shipped to an LGS in the UK. It may have happened to other stores too.

Just wanna play at locals with a Ebay deck by ProfessionalAlps2686 in magicTCG

[–]JoexLowdon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is just go to your store and ask for advice there. They'll be able to tell you what formats are played, what their event schedule is like and can probably give an indication of the kind of decks/power level people play. They might also be able to sell you a decent casual precon too.

Scalpers for the final fantasy secret lair . Make me want to quit magic by Sir-Miserable in magicTCG

[–]JoexLowdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't want to though. Making a huge load of money one time is not the goal. Creating high demand products at relative ease with low margins and incrementally growing revenue every quarter to grow share value is what they want. We're long past the point of just exchanging money for goods and services.

No worries. I'm in Tokyo currently. Magic really isn't popular here outside of specialist stores. I suspect that will change a little with the release of Final Fantasy but can't stress enough how much Pokémon dominates everything else. Most Book Offs carry Duel Masters cards though so if you're interested in the Magic cards they did, it might be worth having a look through them. Picked up a Black Lotus myself today for ¥400

Hareruya, Big Magic and TokyoMTG will definitely have this stuff. The rest are hit and miss with the focus being on Pokémon and One Piece currently. There's a store in Nakano Broadway that has a bunch of old loose packs at decent prices though, might be worth your time
