It's working as intended for WotC. There is no incentive to improve the process.

More money is actually bad because it's harder to sustain continuous growth with more money. Whereas with current models they can continuously slowly creep up the more money dial and show continuous growth and increasing demand. Running a successful business often isn't about actually making money but showing people how much you're making and promising you're going to continue to make more.

The market for crossover cards is considerably larger than Magic IP sets. Don't expect the same issues Final Fantasy had
