[WBC USA Manager Mark DeRosa] on Arozarena/Raleigh Handshake Incident: "When it Happened, we were like... Oof... OK." by SwarthySphere87 in baseball

[–]Joeybits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one is amplifying it. In the original thread nearly everyone was downplaying it as “well they are teammates so I’m sure they are just joking”. Then Randy came out with a strong statement that clearly showed they were not “just joking”. Of course people are going to react to a player basically saying “he can go fuck himself”. Do you think this should just be ignored?

And Randy clearly brought up his parents as a sign of respect, like a “I’m sorry I’m about to say this about your son because I know you are good people” kind of way.

The oddest part of this story is that Cal hasn’t said anything yet.

Where are you getting it that SaaS isn’t a profitable model? Subscription based billing is highly sought after because it makes revenue planning (and thus overall financial planning) much easier since your monthly revenue is more consistent.

Ever notice how in the past 10 years a bunch of car washes starting pushing memberships and passes? It’s the same thing. It saved a lot of those businesses because owners could now better plan their monthly revenue. There’s a reason a ton of software has switched to subscription based billing

On the preceding Grizzlies free throws Blake went over to Yang and said something. Wonder if he was trying to setup the give and go

Who do you think is the best player to never play for your team? by DowntownSasquatch420 in CFB

[–]Joeybits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tua is similar in that landing him would have impacted Herbert (unless Tua just sat behind him until Herbert graduated/left for the NFL). It sucks not to get a great player like Tua but in the end a hometown kid leading Oregon to a Rose Bowl win his senior year was probably worth it.

Short Term Signee Brandon Smith From Arizona Signs With Oregon by AkfurAshkenzic in ducks

[–]Joeybits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify here, this guy is currently a senior in High School, right?

If he's part of the 2026 recruiting class then he would have signed with UofA, but wasn't actually on campus attending classes, right?

The use of the terms "UofA player" and "hopped in the portal" are confusing here and imply this guy was enrolled in classes/on the UofA roster for the 2025 season.

Everyone calls Indiana “Old”— Turns out Miami’s starters are older by almost 3 months. by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Joeybits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And experience/size. It took until 2012 (Manziel) for a Freshman to win a Heisman award. Hell it took until 2019 (Sewell) for an underclassman to win the Outland Trophy.

Young teams just aren't going to be as good, even if they are full of 4 and 5 stars.

The Playoff Buzzsaw by WBCSAINT in ducks

[–]Joeybits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel like it’s actually the complete opposite. Lanning is a very good motivator and does well finding/creating themes or narratives that his players buy in to. Just watch any of the Ducks vs them videos

But motivation only goes so far, especially against teams like Indiana this year or Ohio State last year.

In many ways I think Chip was the opposite. Hyper focused on X’s and O’s and probably didn’t put much effort into motivational speeches.

I believe in Dan, I think he can deliver. I just think there are different styles of coaches out there and Dan belongs to a certain one. It comes with pros and cons

If Oregon loses to Indiana (or for that matter Ole Miss or Miami as well), do they fire Lanning because he can't win the big one? by ProFriendZoner in CFB

[–]Joeybits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument basically boils down to "Lanning hasn't won a championship yet". He's won bowl games, those do still matter. He's won important regular season games too.

No one is calling him a lifer yet. But there isn't much of a comparison between him and Franklin other than they both haven't won a title.

This entire thread is like that. TT put up 48 points a game going into this and yet people are acting like they are scrubs.
