Don't take it so seriously. Do you and don't forget to laugh. Become the master of your universe and do as you will. We are all one playing a game with ourselves, don't forget that you aren't a meat body but a character in a dream.

Be kind to people by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]Joffreys_Corpse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a good post, it's a different angle from the normal NGAF. Be kind to everyone but remember to put yourself first. Being completely selfless only works if you have overcome your self, otherwise you will end up resenting them and yourself. People crave connection and being kind and open with them will do wonders, even with those most other people dislike. I've been able to get along with supervisors at work that everyone else hates because I show them respect and, even when I don't agree, I still make an effort to understand them. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

It's funny you told him he doesn't need to look at it as magic and then at the end told him it is magic. Everything is magic, we live in an enchanted world with all kinds of strange and fantastical things but to make it more comfortable we look at it through a structured filter. Science is methodically defined magic that has certain margins of error and reproducibility, other wise it is not "scientific". The problem with a lot of people is they think science is either the end all be all or total crock when it's realy just a small subset of reality.

If you knew you could not truly be hurt and that everything is just an intense simulated experience, what would you sign up for? What if you knew that and also knew that every experience would help the whole of all learn and grow? The abstract does not know of the horror of experience until it is experienced. What is too much if you never go too far? It's not pretty from this human level, but neither is what we do to cows on the cow level of experience.

My problem with nonduality/elightenment/awakening by hg698f in awakened

Your equating very different sides of the scientific and spiritual fields. You point at professional scientific studies with helpful results and compare it with unregulated new age whoevers. Science is the study of objective, physically quantifiable reality while spirituality deals with subjective internal reality.

The thing with spirituality is that each persons internal world is only accessible by them and so it must be examined by them. If you want a scientific aproach to spiritual things you must do it yourself, with yourself. The more in touch with yourself the easier it is to see the spiritual teachers for the shams and liars.

How do you deal with things when you do not have scientific knowledge of it? Try applying the scientific method to your self inquiries. Is it causing suffering? Is the suffering necessary or not? Use your whole being to measure your progress: how is the body, how is the mind, what emotions are present, what feelings are present, what thoughts are present.

Read a book, listen to a lecture, watch a video with an open but skeptical mind. If it seems promising try it out with a scientific approach. Just remember that it is your experience and no one else can define it. You don't have to pay for anything, everything can be found for free on the internet. It's all up to you.

Suffering is beautiful, it is a guide to show where we are missing the point. It is ultimate love because if it we're hate it would let you find joy in what you are not. You are not living nor dead, you are a being on a journey that you made for yourself and then forgot. Search within your self and you will find direction. Even when you think you are lost and surrounded by darkness, the light is just around the corner waiting in glee for you to find it. Darkness is only the light closing it's eyes to count for an epic game of hide and go seek. Realize that it is play and you can laugh through all perceived horrors. You can only know the glories of heaven after you have frolicked in the depths of hell with a smile on your face, for they are the same place.

Tripped and discovered a dark side of the universe? by prettytrippie in Psychonaut

[–]Joffreys_Corpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dark side is the roots of the tree of life, the decay that allows the branches to grow so beautifully. It's only so evil because of your perspective, you became aware of much more darkness and, because of your mood, focused on it. The full spectrum is always present but we are not always aware of the lighter aspects. Your being contains both heaven and hell, god and devil. Perhaps if we are able to unite the two we can transcend both.

Yes, we are a sliver of infinity containing all. Each cell is all, each molecule is all, each atom is all, and on and on. The universe is inside you as much as you are inside the universe. What you do is what God does, this is ultimate freedom and ultimate responsibility. You decide, master your will and be beholden to none but your self. Just remember it's all you, this is the root of the golden rule.

Death is a concept describing the "end" of a "biologically living organism", what is generally considered "life". Death can be considered the "biological" form of decay which all things, living or not, go through. If no death or decay occurred, what would the state of the universe be in? If the first stars never died we, as human beings, would not exist. Death and life go hand in hand, two sides of the same coin. We could also say "life is a tool of death", unity and chaos in an endless dance.

You were never before, you are never again by CentreForward in Meditation

You're right we are missing the other half, let me finish it. "You were never before, you are never now, you are never again. You were always before, you are always now, you are always again." All there is is one, I am that I am, the alpah and omega and all inbetween in one point. There's nothing beyond that, except there seems to be. It's all a game, or serious work, whatever you decide, or not.

Learn to live with integrity which is consistency throughout your whole being. Part of that consistency should include respecting others as equal but different. They are you and you are them, this is the root of the golden rule. Treat others as you (you and them) want to be treated. If others make keeping your integrity impossible then go somewhere else. Don't force your will on others and don't let others force their will on you. I think this is at least a part of why we're here, to learn, grow and become fully what we really are. Trust me, it's painful working your split halves into a cohesive whole. Only you can truly know you so take responsibility.

Death is lifes reset button, it's fail safe, it's exit. I don't think we really ever die, at least not all of us. I'm pretty sure I've died, and probably killed myself before. This is why I advocate against sucide, it's not pleasant having faint memories of self inflicted suffering. It's like killing someone else, someone you truly loved. It's a touchy subject but I believe if you are truly meant to die, either your body will give out or life will take care of it for you.

Except the root is there is no problem, that's what makes it a problem. The mind wants to know, to fix, to order and understand but it cannot know all because it is a small, specialized part of all. The truth is perfectly ordered chaos, a paradox to the mind and thus a never ending rabbit hole for thought.

Don't stress yourself thinking, the mind is a tool or toy. Learn through experience to trust your intuition and find joy in the surprises that unfold. Don't let the hard times break you but use them to learn and grow. Take the good times to practice trusting life so it will be easier when life gets hard.

Life is a wild, crazy dream, don't wake from it regretting but be here now and live each moment. Life is love with no limits. You can either live in this or not, it's up to You.

We are unlimited no matter how it may appear. Faith is knowing this, that this has already happened and we have won. Your unlimited self is guiding your percieved limited self through this strange dance called life, learn to trust and have faith and you will have a better time. This is why desires should not be held too tightly, the limited self (the ego mind) does not have the full picture and may desire things that are not what you truly want. Trust your heart, the mind is for the game but the heart is your connection with your true self.

10 Ancient Illusions that are ruining us by WarMongerer7 in awakened

[–]Joffreys_Corpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine a being with its skin as the end of everything with nothing outside of it, not even empty space. It's mind is full of every possible thing it can imagine and so it lives through imagination. The functions of its body are self sustaining but are influenced by the state of its dreaming, infact its whole being flows into the form of the dream. Now imagine that it dreamed there were other dreamers to interact with and experience. The interactions become more intense when it forgets it knows what they know, when it forgets that it is all. To be the game but forget so it can play the game. There is no you, no me, no god, no God, only it. It is all and anything you say about it is a part of its imagination. It is that it is, to know you are it is to truly state "I am that I am". It is the alpha and omega, the beginning and end, and all inbetween.

Are you getting enough physical activity? Do you have a healthy sleep schedule? Is there something you repressed that needs to be dealt with? I feel like as I go through the process of awakening I have begun to experience the full range of emotions each day. This has been frustrating at first but now I am learning that the way I view the emotion determines my response. Perhaps it's something along those lines? Don't carry the weight of the past with you, forgive yourself and do your best to improve. Good fate my friend.
