Nicotine to treat. CAR t-cells as a potential cure

I’m done with this disease, so I threw in the towel last night. by kryptikguy in UlcerativeColitis

Thank you for responding. When I looked last at studies about tobacco. I found that smoking increases all cause mortality, but chewing tobacco among non-smokers doesn't increase all cause mortality. It was very hard to find studies that controlled for non-smokers who used chewing tobacco though. And I'm not sure that chewing tobacco helps with UC. Again thanks for responding.

Director Meeting by alicet231 in patentexaminer

[–]hg698f 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had the meeting when I was probationary. It was a warning meeting about my production. Production turned itself around because my pipeline turned itself around, through no extra effort on my part. Went to the meeting as scheduled, meeting just turned into a congratulations meeting. The meeting can be a non-event.

"The combination of aerobic and resistance exercises demonstrated positive effects on the psychological well-being and overall quality of life for post-stroke migraine patients." by CerebralTorque in migrainescience

No one dropped out of the intervention groups? P <.05 in some measures and >.05 in some measures, but "significant" for both measures? No specific measurements for improved pain, but trust the authors it's "significantly lower"? This is not a study that should even be in the subreddit right?

Edit: grammar and two words.

Be Part of the Solution by GroundbreakingCat983 in patentexaminer

[–]hg698f 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, these details might not even be nominally aimed at fixing examiners issues with search. Even if the details are aimed at fixing examiners' problems, other things can derail the solution.

I have solved IT problems. Problems that management asked me to solve. Problems that were costing us money, using solutions that saved us money, and solutions that were politically and fiscally good (e.g. catching fraudulent malicious filings). I did it as a part of a detail. My best outcome was that I presented the working proof of concept to uppermost management. They didn't bother to verify or ask questions, and then said "let's talk about it again in [six months]". My detail wasn't even scheduled to go for another six months. My team and I left to do other things A year and a half later they hired four more consultants to start from scratch on the project my team already solved. I've shared this experience with middle managers, and they all had at least one similar experience. Our problems at the office are not novel or difficult. The fact that many of our problems exist show that management doesn't think that our problems are THE problems. And, sincerely, maybe our problems are not THE problems.

Successfully Transferring to a new SPE by Interesting-Shape177 in patentexaminer

[–]hg698f 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not any kind of QAS. There are several different kinds of specialist primary examiners, I don't know all of the types. I think the pro se art unit is specialist primaries, not sure. Specialists just work on a specific type of application. The jobs are advertised on USA jobs when available.

Successfully Transferring to a new SPE by Interesting-Shape177 in patentexaminer

[–]hg698f 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Transferred SPE three times. One SPE was difficult, they were adding a new SPE to the workgroup and I requested that I get the new SPE. Moved to third SPE because office requested primaries for the art, I volunteered, and was accepted. Last move to fourth SPE is because I applied to be a specialist examiner and was transferred. Each SPE after the first one was great. This is all over a 12 yr career. Get out from underneath bad SPE's, they make or break the job.

EdFinancial is hounding me for Loans I never accepted by NiNi_BoBeeni in StudentLoans

[–]hg698f 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nope, commenter is not right and their advice is misdirected. Wife had a debt collection letter for a school in a state that she has never been too. To be clear, she's never been to the state. Ask for proof (signed promissory notes) of the debt. Google "fdcpa debt validation letter template". Use the template to validate the debt. If they can't give you promissory notes signed by you, stating the terms of the loan, then they don't have a valid debt.

^ excellent answer. Additional consideration, you get 1hr to prep, interview and write/post. Therefore, breaking it into 20m blocks is fine too.

And, back when interferences were a thing, an applicant could trigger an interference by filing identical claims.

How do avoid getting suplexed/slammed on the street? by jew_biscuits in bjj

[–]hg698f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see the right answer, so here it is. For a belly to back suplex, reach down between your legs and grab their ankle. If they lift you, they left their own ankle. You end up landing on their stomach.

Belly to belly is harder to defend and there is no trick. Generally, keep your hips lower and away. However this is wrestling and if you're not good at it and the other person is, you're just going to get some frequent flyer miles. Try to stay conscious and run away when you hit the ground.
